The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office is apologizing to Grammy-winning artist Wyclef Jean for mistaking him as a robbery suspect and detaining him.

Apparently, Los Angeles cops couldn’t tell the difference between Wyclef Jean and an armed robbery suspect. The Fugees rapper was detained by cops overnight (March 21) because the car he was driving matched the description of the whip used in the crime that same night.

Wyclef Jean is broke and he creditors are demanding their money, including the IRS, who he owes $2.9M. The revelation was made by his accountant when the former Fugees frontman failed to pay lawyers money he owed them.
