After leaders of the movement faced backlash as a result of a scathing article published by New York Magazine accusing the organization's leaders of using donations from supporters to purchase a whopping $6 million house in southern California back in 2020.

Activist Patrisse Cullors announced on Thursday, May 27 that she is resigning her position as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Foundation that she helped to found in 2013.
