'Cyberpunk 2077' Is So Bad Sony Pulled It From The PS Store

This is what you would call unprecedented. Sony is quite stingy when offering refunds for games but yesterday evening, but the company took the rare step. Cyberpunk 2077 has been the talk of the video game world following its release becuase of its insanely poor performance on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. The bugs and glitches players were experiencing while trying to enjoy their time in Night City are outright unbearable, and shares that hit Twitter showing the game’s visual performance were laughable. Sony heard enough and decided to give gamers full refunds for digital purchases of the game. The company took the mind-blowing step by temporarily pulling the game from the PlayStation Store. In a tweet announcing the decision, PlayStation said:

“SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund.”

When Sony announced its decision, it was unsure at the time if Xbox was going to follow suit. Today, Microsoft announced that it has also been honoring refund requests from unhappy gamers.

“Cyberpunk 2077: To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store,”

The game has not been pulled from the Microsoft Store…yet. CD Projekt Red revealed to Reuters that it has not talked with Microsoft about the possibitly of the happening. “We are not in such discussions with Microsoft at the moment,” says the company’s chief executive Adam Kicinski. Before everything went left for the Warsaw-based game studio, the company announced that there were eight million pre-orders of the $59.99 game. Now, the Cyberpunk 2077 developer’s stock plummeted more than 22% and erasing the equivalent of $1.8 billion from the company’s market capitalization. Ouch. One of the game’s investors is even thinking about bringing a class-action lawsuit against CD Projekt Red, accusing the developer of “misrepresentation in order to obtain financial benefits.” It looks like CD Projekt Red saying, oops, our bad for being dishonest about the crappy game they dropped didn’t work at all. The studio does promise to continue to support the game for those who continue to play the game and issue patches in January and February that will address the major glitches and bugs.
