The last year and change has seen Houston’s own Megan Thee Stallion go from underground rapper to the hottest female rapper in the game. With the recent release of her EP Suga, you can only expect to hear more from her for the foreseeable future.
In the midst of a court battle with her label and online drama with rap OG, J. Prince, Megan continues to grind her way to the top and last Friday (March 6) made her debut appearance on The Breakfast Club for a quick pow-wow with Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God. Touching on her humble beginnings to rubbing shoulders with some of the game’s elites, the “Hot Girl Summer” artist opens up about how she got her start rapping, why she’s still in college preparing for life after rap, and who Suga is to her.

Megan was inspired to pick up the pen due to her mama’s own attempt at a rap career. Mama Megan was in the studio and everything trying to get on. Megan would steal her instrumental CD’s and try to pen her own rhymes before eventually getting to the studio on her own and her mother ended up becoming her manager. That’s dope.

Even though she’s one of the hottest rappers in the game today, Megan is back in school majoring in Healthcare Administration as she plans on opening up an assisted living facility. She’s even sporting an 2.7 GPA. Not bad for someone juggling a rap career. Props.

Megan revealed that Jay-Z and Beyoncé threw a pajama party for New Years Eve to which she was invited. That being said Megan doesn’t know anything about the Illuminati and doesn’t even think Black people can get in that group. Basically.

Though people think she’s trying to get released from her contract with Carl Crawford’s 1501 Records, she says she’s not. She just wants to renegotiate some things in it. And while she doesn’t like posting any of her personal problems on social media, she decided to air out some of that situation when she learned that they were barring her from dropping any new music. Why a label would keep a hot artist from dropping music from which they too would get paid is beyond her and everyone else.

As for who “Suga” is, Megan says that Suga is “a girl who is going through it but she getting through it. It’s me basically letting people know that I’m not perfect, I’m human. I know I be f*ckin’ up, but I be tryin.’”

While J. Prince is out there talking about Megan’s contract situation on IG, Megan says she doesn’t have a relationship with the Houston OG and has never met him in person. Though he says that she’s “lying” on him in court documents, Megan insists she doesn’t lie, but can’t talk about it because it’s in the courts right now.
