It’s been more than a decade since we’ve seen our favorite comedy/action duo on screen together taking down bad guys and drug lords in Bad Boys II. But with Bad Boys For Life just days from finally landing in theaters, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have been making the media rounds and found themselves at the cool kids table known as The Breakfast Club.

After being introduced to Charlamagne Tha God’s ass mold, the comedy icons chopped it up with the morning trio and spoke on everything they could for the quick interview.

From talking about why it took so long for the film to be made to Will Smith admitting he was jealous of Jada’s love for the legendary Tupac Shakur, the interview was as informative as it was entertaining.

Here are the 8 things we learned from Will Smith and Martin Lawrence on The Breakfast Club.

Will Smith lowkey admits he’s the reason Bad Boys For Life took so long to happen, but justifies it by saying he didn’t want to a “cash grab.” “I was like ‘No, if we’re gonna make a Bad Boys – a third one, it has to be deservant. There has to be messages and ideas. We gotta be talking about something and it’s not just blowing some stuff up and getting paid.”

Interestingly enough Bad Boys was rumored to have been originally intended for Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey (flop city), but then they sent the script to Martin Lawrence and asked him to pick a co-star. It was his sister who suggested Will Smith and after meeting with him the two created a cult classic for the 90’s and beyond.

Will reveals that James Avery (Uncle Phil) “never liked nothing I did” as Will wasn’t a true actor at the time and he actually messed up that classic “How come he don’t want me” scene the first time around. After throwing a fit in front of the studio audience, Avery snapped him back into character and got him to nail it.

When Martin Lawrence got his television deal for his own show, he says he did all those classic characters to keep the show going and keep it from failing. He definitely succeeded.

Talking about the millions of dollars he “didn’t” lend Tyrese, Will Smith still denies loaning him the money but says Black Ty is his dude even if he’s functioning at “40% of the capacity of what he really is” talent wise. We guess that means Will we only see 40% of the millions he let Ty hold.

While Gabrielle Union wasn’t included in Bad Boys For Life because they couldn’t find an arc for her character in the story, Will isn’t putting it past anyone that she’ll be in Bad Boys 4. But that all depends on the box office receipts BB3 generates when it releases when it drops this week.

To this day Will Smith regrets choosing to make The Wild Wild West over doing The Matrix. Martin for his part regrets not doing the press rounds for Bad Boys II with Will Smith. Also Martin doesn’t “give a damn” if he’s still banned from Saturday Night Live, but says he wasn’t banned from SNL, he was just banned from NBC. He did eventually get a letter apologizing for the ban and says he’s good with them again.

Touching on his relationship with his wife Jada Pinkette-Smith, Will says that their commitment to each other and their family has been “wildly tested” over the years, but they’re still down for each other regardless. That being said he does admit that Jada’s love for Tupac did make him hella jealous and he regrets not ever being able to build with Tupac while he was alive and get over that feeling.
