Kanye West x Zane Lowe

Kanye West went from one of Hip-Hop’s most beloved and celebrated artists to it’s most polarizing figure in the age of Donald Trump. From stating that George Bush “doesn’t care about Black people” to revealing he feels like “Superman” whenever he puts on his Make America Great Again hat while declaring that slavery was a “choice,” people do indeed miss the old Kanye.

Though his adidas sneakers line continues to remain hot in these streets his brand itself continues to suffer numerous setbacks thanks to Kanye continuously making unexpected pro-Trump and pro-far-right statements that alienate his core Hip-Hop fanbase.

In his first in-depth interview in quite some time, Kanye continues to go down the road he’s been trekking for the past few years by referring to his outraged fans as “liberals” and explains how his new “only mission in life” of spreading the gospel is influencing all the moves he’s making these days including his upcoming Christian album, Jesus Is Born.

Here are the 10 things we learned from Kanye West from his sometimes off the wall interview with Zane Lowe.

Kanye remembers that at the age of 5 he stumbled onto one of his father’s Playboy magazines that eventually led to him having a “full on pornography addiction” which he says “affected every choice I made for the rest of my life.” We wonder how his current wife Kim Kardashian might feel about that little tidbit because, well, y’all know (no shots).

For people helping him craft his Jesus Is King album, Kanye says he not only asked people involved in it to fast during it’s production, but there was times “I was asking people to not have premarital sex while they’re working on the album.” Dios mio! Is Kanye ordaining heads to become ministers at the end of this album’s production?

Speaking on the culture and how it pertains to his marriage and family, Kanye felt that he and Kim created a “successful celebrity marriage. A successful interracial marriage where the husband was the darker color – inside of America.” Huh?! He also admits that “I literally was up there tryin’ to have my daughter out-dress Rihanna.” After explaining that, Ye said “I thought I was the god of culture, but really culture was my god.”

Speaking on his connection to God, Kanye feels that “God is using me. God is using me to showoff.” After comparing himself to how God looked upon the King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar and saying that Nebuchadnezzar too was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Ye feels that his own mental disorder was the reason that his “dome” got “took down by 10 feet.”

Yes, Yeezy plans on becoming President of The United States and in a very Trumpian manner says “Every founder” apparently from brands like Nike and Louis Vuitton “will have to look me eye to eye… and I will remember. I will forgive but I will remember every founder that didn’t have the capacity to understand culturally what we were doing.” Nike CEO Mark Parker must’ve got the memo early and decided he didn’t want none of that Presidential Yeezus smoke or something. While it sounds like a joke, Kanye says he’s “working on some things right now” for the 2024 Presidential elections. Everyone thought Trump winning was a joke, right?

Kanye says he’s ready for all the “spiritual warfare” and “societal controlled attacks” that’s going to be coming his way now that he’s a born again MAGA Christian. “I wasn’t afraid to speak my mind when I didn’t own my masters. I own my masters, you think I ain’t gonna talk my mind right now?”

Though he admits to one time having a rivalry with Drake and that it “was so painful” as they didn’t talk for six months, he happens to live close by to him and apparently leaves him notes to contact him when he can. Talk about snail mail communication.

Explaining his recent weight gain, Kanye says that after he was medically diagnosed he was put on “medication to make me fat on purpose. Cause after I didn’t wanna take the meds they said ‘okay, we got this version that don’t make you fat.’ They tryin’ to kill the superhero!” Word?! What kind of doctors is his medical insurance covering in LA?

Kanye admits he “felt bad” when Louis Vuitton chose Virgil Abloh to create gear for the brand instead of him as he felt he “stepped into my territory.” “I felt like it was supposed to be me. I was the ‘Louis Vuitton Don.’ People still call me the Louis Vuitton Don when I’m walking down the street.” Though he still admires Bernard Arnault, he remembers that Arnault offered him a deal 5 years ago at his Yeezy show and shook his hand only to drop the deal three months afterwards. “And it had an affect on me going to the hospital.” He does feel that Virgil “validated” everything by getting down with Louis V, but also says that Bernard “is my new Drake.” He’ll forgive, but won’t forget once he’s President, y’all.

Though he supports Donald Trump, Kanye still considers himself a “liberal” and a “200 percenter” but says he 100% “understand the people on the right” and would even be willing to talk to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jon Un “as long as I got air in my lungs.” We kinda get Kim cause he’s a basketball fan, but Vladimir? He might blackmail Kanye with Kim K’s sex tape. Oh wait…

Talking about his brief time at Nike which spawned some sneakerhead must-have classics in the Yeezy line, Ye says “When I was at Nike, there wasn’t no Virgil, there wasn’t no Travis. When I left, you know that brand Anti-Social Social Club? They made an Anti-Kanye Kanye Club at Nike.”
