Fresh off his directorial debut for his hit Starz show, Power, 50 Cent takes to New York’s OG Hip-Hop radio station Hot 97 to do what he does best, shoot straight from the hip.
Sitting down with Ebro, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, Fiddy addresses everything from why he changed the theme song to Power, his thoughts on Chris Brown being superior to Michael Jackson and Tekashi 6ix9ine’s situation. It’s kinda weird when an interview goes by with 50 Cent when he’s not slandering Ja Rule or Irv Gotti but hey, there’s a first time for everything.
Here are the 8 things we learned from 50 Cent on Ebro in The Morning.

Responding to the claims that casting Lala Anthony in Power is the reason that she and Carmelo Anthony broke up, 50 says, ”Nah it’s not my fault!” After saying he suggested her because he felt she was ready for her big break, 50 Cent mentions a new name who he might be eyeing for a 50 Cent project: ”Teyana Taylor.” 50 won’t rest until he breaks up all celebrity NBA marriages. We kid, we kid…

50 says that he feels Chris Brown’s “showmanship” might be better than Michael Jackson’s to him. “When I’m speaking on Chris I’m looking at how he’s evolved and what he’s doing.” He does admit that he’s with the “what have you done for me lately” opinion when it comes to music. The King of Pop’s been dead for a minute now so don’t be surprised if 50 eventually feels Khalid is better than Michael Jackson.

As for why he switched up the theme song to Power, 50 says “the first one I was making what I felt like the show was. The second one I was trying to bring it to now. Bring it to like the youth.” That’s why he included Trey Songz and A Boogie because he felt “That’s right now Hip-Hop & R&B music.” He also made it more bouncy because he feels that “dance culture means more to music culture now.” That being said, 50 went back to the original theme song after the backlash he got for switching it up.

Touching on Jay-Z’s new partnership with the NFL, 50 doesn’t offer much of an opinion outside of “That’s really more a [Roc] Nation deal. It’s because his company is housing a large portion of the talent in our culture right now.” As for the press conference Jay held to explain the new venture, 50 says “He didn’t have to answer those questions. He could’ve just went home. Why you gotta answer that?”

Though 50 has quietly given back to the community and donated millions of dollars to different charitable organizations he doesn’t look for publicity behind his moves because “I don’t want anyone to feel like it’s my responsibility to do it because it’s not. It’s something I’m doing on my own merit.” Can’t be mad at that at all.

Though he named the most recent episode “Forgot About Dre,” 50 says he and Dr. Dre are “good.” After years of not speaking to his once label boss, 50 says Scott Storch (whom 50 is working on a project on) put them on Face Time together and they chopped it up. 50 also reveals that Dr. Dre gave him his biggest records off of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ after working together “only four days.” Four days of work equaled a lifetime of financial security. Imagine that.

50 says he originally met Tekashi 6ix9ine through his homies little brothers who were hanging around with the rainbow haired rapper. “And he wasn’t being Tekashi 6ix9ine when he was around me. He was being Danny.” 50 also says he told Tekashi and his crew not to go to Chicago at the height of their beef with Chief Keef and his peoples, but they did it anyway even though it was just to troll them. He does feel that there’s still hope for Tekashi’s post-snitchin’ career if he drops the right record because “no one cares” due to the kind of inside extortion situation 6ix9ine was in.

As for 50 not letting Wendy Williams into his summer pool party, 50 says “You shouldn’t just show up to my party after we got problems… Let me come to you.”

Even though he took some veiled shots at Rick Ross by saying Meek Mill is fighting for prison reform while collaborating with corrections officers on a track, 50 says he doesn’t have a problem with Rozay anymore. “If I was chasing him I would’ve got him by now. You know that.” That being said he’s not letting up on Teairra Marie and wants that court ordered $30K pocket change in his back pocket.
