Freddie Gibb’s been on his grizzly for a hot minute and though he’s often overlooked in favor of commercial rappers and flavor of the month artists, his recently released project Bandana has been garnering him praise as his best piece of work to date.
Riding high on the release of his latest album, the Hip-Hop veteran sat down for a quick interview with your favorite Hip-Hop morning show and had no qualms about getting into a bevy of subjects and turned as entertaining an interview as you’ll hear today.
From explaining how he got locked up in Austria because of a dream a white woman had about him to opening up about his desire to sign with 50 Cent, Gangsta Gibbs is answers all questions thrown at him with no hairs on his tongue.
Here are the 6 things we learned from Freddie Gibbs on The Breakfast Club.

1. Spike Lee
Freddie Gibb’s says when he said “f*ck Spike” Lee for his depiction of Malcolm X on “Flat Tummy Tea” he says was joking. “I like Spike Lee.” He does say some Muslims he knows do have issues with Spike Lee’s classic biopic film.

2. It Was All A Dream
Gibbs says he was indeed unlawfully locked up in Austria because a woman told the courts she had a dream that Freddie sexually assaulted her. That alone was enough to get him booked. Though he doesn’t hold a grudge against her he can’t say he forgives her for putting him through that. And yes, he is pursing legal action against her.

3. Fatherhood
Unlike YG who says he wants to teach his seed all he knows about the street game, Gibbs says he won’t teach his son anything about that street life. Gibbs says he wants his kid to grow up to be better than him and become a lawyer or something because “I took all those lumps for him already.”

4. Jeezy Drama
Talking about his situation with Young Jeezy, Freddie says it stems from a time when his “homeboys was d*ck ridin’” the ATL rapper and asked Gibbs to pull some strings to get them on Jeezy’s tour bus. He did and once they were there (Gibbs wasn’t around), Jeezy said he wanted some Timbs to go with his outfit, so they came out of pocket to get him a pair. After Jeezy said they were the wrong pair he gave them to his homeboy and Freddie’s homeboy called him up asking him to reimburse him for the money he spent on the kicks. Freddie reacted with “Ni**a, f*ck you and that n*gga” and said he felt like that was “disrespectful to me. That was like one of the straws that broke the camel’s back.”

5. Rappers
Gangsta Gibbs admits there’s a few things that can get a rapper on his “I Don’t F*cks With You” list such as “The way you move. The way you act… things you say… the way these ni**as dress.”

6. 50 Cent
Gibbs admits that he was hoping to sign with 50 Cent back in 2006 but says he never happened because “they probably think I sounded like Young Buck.” It also didn’t help that he punched his manager Barry Williams in the face. Williams also happened to be 50 Cent’s brand manager. Gibbs says he put hands on Williams because he intruded on his date with his girl with naked women and cocaine. Any other time that sounds like a helluva way to turn up but if you’re with wifey you going to feel a ways.
