Aside from the likes of Nipsey Hussle (R.I.P), Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, YG’s been one of LA’s most recognized and celebrated rap artists as of late and with the recent release of his latest project 4REAL 4REAL he continues to build his reputation as one of the west coast’s most must-hear artists.
Today the Compton rapper took to a trip to NYC and swing through The Breakfast Club to talk about his personal feelings on a few subject matters including his faith, family, and friends.
Whether he was talking about how he questions God’s plan to how the passing of Nipsey Hussle messed him up, YG proves that he has no qualms about opening up and as real as can be when it comes to interviews.
Here are the 9 things we learned from YG on The Breakfast Club.

1. The Devil Made Him Do It
YG says that “the devil inspired that video” for “In The Dark.” He admits that he was drunk off tequila when he thought up the theme for that clip. That being said YG says he believes in God, but he “doesn’t understand this sh*t.” Welcome to the club, homie.

2. Like Father Like Son
YG’s about to have another daughter and though he wouldn’t mind having a son, he says he feels that God doesn’t give him one because “he know if I had a son it would be crazy because how I’d be moving with my son, it probably wouldn’t be the right way.” In other words, he’d probably be teaching his son how to be a G out in these streets.

3. Don’t Snitch Idea
YG says he got the idea for the “Don’t Snitch” video from Nate Parker’s Birth of A Nation. “At the end of the day it’s like you telling on your own people.”

4. Snowfall
YG reveals he had locked down a role in John Singleton’s FX show Snowfall, but then the people from the studio wanted YG off the project because they learned that he was G’d up for real in the streets and had gotten shot up in the past. That turned him off from doing TV shows and later on ended up in the film White Boy Rick.

5. Mental Health
Apparently film producer Scott Budnick turned YG onto the importance of mental health but still doesn’t go to therapy. He says “I’m drinking for sure” whenever he feels the need to deal with something.

6. Tattoo Tears
YG says he’s not afraid to cry but doesn’t cry. He does admit to crying when Nipsey Hussle was killed and to dropping a tear when he watched Fruitvale Station. What really hurt YG about Nipsey’s passing is that he felt “it’s not fair” as he thought Nipsey made it out what with his numerous accomplishments only to get murdered on the streets.

7. Secret Nipsey Project
Speaking of Nip, YG says he and Nipsey were working on a secret TV show before he passed away. He won’t give any details about it but says it wasn’t a reality TV show and it was “some next level sh*t.” He does say “you gonna know about it soon.” He also remembers Nipsey sent him and the crew an email filled with books to read. YG says he’s read none.

8. Gang Trademarks
YG doesn’t have a problem with Bloods and Crips trademarking gang related stuff but only if they’re really involved with that culture. If people who aren’t down with that are trying to get paid off such things G says “youse a h*e b*tch a$$ ni**a and we gon’ get you.” Can’t expect anything less.

9. Black & Brown
Speaking on the video for “Go Loko,” YG says that the Latinos in LA show him love and that “they feel like I’m one of their peoples” given that Black and Latino’s grow up in similar street cultures. He even says that the title to his album My Crazy Life was inspired by the Spanish term Mi Vida Loca.
