Yella Beezy is relatively new to most Hip-Hop music fans and though he’s had a couple of hits in his back pocket, the Dallas rapper made a lot more headlines after getting shot last month.
With his debut album Ain’t No Goin Back dropping in mid-November, Beezy is ready to start talking about some thangs and what better place to start than The Breakfast Club.
Sitting down with DJ Envy and Angela Yee the “That’s On Me” rapper reveals what iconic southern rap group got him into rapping, what happened the night of the shooting, and being a God-fearing man.
Here are the 6 things we learned from Yella Beezy on The Breakfast Club.

1. Ca$h Money
Beezy says that Ca$h Money artists inspired him to start rapping when he was 13-years-old. “I just wanted to do the same thing they was doing.”

2. Clapped Up
The night of the shooting Beezy remembers he was “coolin’” at the strip clubs and his peoples convinced him to hit up another spot he knew he “ain’t got business in there.” Afterwards, when he was driving home he says someone pulled up on him and started clapping at him and got hit four times. He remembers driving his car from the passenger seat trying to avoid getting killed before he ended up crashing his car. Beezy admits there’s a chance it was a personal street beef.

3. Damage Assessment
Though it seems like his arm caught the worst of the shots, Beezy says he also caught it in his leg and another went through his back and just missed his spine and heart. He called his mama at 3am to tell her and she got upset thinking he was joking around. Once she found out it was true she went “berserk” while at the hospital.

4. Not The One
Beezy says that though he ain’t never start any drama he damn sure isn’t running from any of it. “If y’all see Yella into something just know they started it first. 100 times out of 100, they started. We ain’t soft or nothing, I ain’t soft or nothing but I ain’t start it or nothing but I’ll be the one to finish it.”

5. Who Shot Ya?!
As for the rumors about who did it and that it was a retaliation hit for someone who got killed, Beezy says “I ain’t never spoke on dude in interviews, I ain’t gonna speak on it now but he wasn’t even no threat to do no stuff like that. What I need to do something to you for?” He also adds “Rest in peace to him. I don’t wish death on nobody… that ain’t had nothing to do with me.” Obviously, them shooters felt differently. Speaking of shooters Beezy says he bought 8 guns “the day before yesterday.” You can buy guns like that in Texas.

6. Faithful Type
Yella Beezy confesses that he prays a lot. “I ain’t a Muslim or nothing like that but I know I pray at least five times a day. I ain’t ashamed to admit what I do. Like I said I grew up in a praying family so all I know is prayer. I walk out on faith.”
