For decades Kathy Griffin’s brand of humor has been considered an acquired taste for many but last year she found that Trumpian’s will chew you up and spit you out if your joke leaves a bad taste in their mouth.
After being blackballed by the entertainment industry for her now infamous photo of a decapitated Donald Trump, the OG comedian is steadily getting back on her feet while continuing to take it to Donald Trump and the cult that’s following him off the proverbial cliff.
Stopping by The Breakfast Club, Griffin opens up about just how bad things got for her after that picture made the rounds on the internet including her “friends” and colleagues abandoning her, the death threats she and her family got, and why she’s done with white women.
Here are the 10 things we learned from Kathy Griffin on The Breakfast Club.
1. Character Assassin
After posting that photo of herself holding up Donald Trump’s blooded head piece, the DOJ put her under a 2 month federal investigation and were actually considering charging the comedian with conspiracy to assassinate the President of The United States. She was even on the “No Fly List” for a few months but even when she was taken off the list she was put on the Interpol list and was detained numerous times when she went on her world tour. Pettiest. Administration. Ever.
2. Three Amigos
While a lot of people began to shun her due to her newfound pariah status (even all of her representatives dumped her), Katt Williams called her to support her and had her write down the names of the people who called her and supported her from day one. At the end of the day she only wrote down three names: Katt Williams, Jamie Foxx, and Jim Carrey. Notice that not one of them was a woman. Shame!
3. Donald Trump
Interestingly enough Kathy says she knew Donald “the moron” Trump since the 90’s and he actually hired her twice to roast him before he took office. But regardless of who he was back then, Donald Trump is a cult leader now and because she “disrespected” him she’s still receiving death threats and even had a man run up on her waving a knife. She still stands by that picture 100% but is mad the photographer wouldn’t give her the copyrights to the now infamous picture.
4. Death Threats
Speaking of death threats, Kathy says that Trumpians were so unhinged that they began sending death threats to her 98-year-old mother at her retirement home and even her cancer stricken sister who got death threats in the hospital and continued to get them until the day she died. She says she didn’t know white people were this bad and racist until she badmouthed someone they revered. And these same cult followers who were offended by Hillary Clinton when she called them “deplorables.” Sounds spot on.
5. Kimye
Apparently Kanye West has kept all the mannequins from that weird “Famous” music video. She also says Kim Kardashian was always 100% pro-Hillary Clinton. Don’t be surprised if Donald Trump rescinds his pardon of Alice Marie Johnson now.
6. Andy Cohen Beef
As for her beef with Andy Cohen, Kathy Griffin says that she doesn’t trust him and “is basically trying to be me and even in his book he steals some of my jokes. And when he does the tour with my former friend, Anderson Cooper, he does some of my jokes on the tour!” She also says that none of the Twitter questions on Watch What Happens Live are real. Apparently the staff writes them. And apparently he tried to do cocaine with her but she declined. Hot tea for sale here!
7. Fake Friends
Apparently, CNN reporters Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper turned their back on Kathy Griffin after she posted that picture with Trump’s head. She does say Tapper texted her a weird message a few months ago asking her why he put him in that position. Huh?!
8. Harvey Levin
Speaking on Donald Trump and Harvey Levin’s website, Kathy feels that they’ve coordinated before to help Trump and actually feels that said website is highly misogynistic and racist. She feels they put women of a certain age and minorities in a negative light.
9. Apologize For What?
Kathy says that Katt Williams was upset that she apologized for doing the Trump picture, but she did it because Rosie O’Donnell called her and asked her “What if Daniel Pearl’s mother said this?” For those who don’t know, Daniel Pearl was a journalist for the Wall Street Journal who was kidnapped and then decapitated by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. That alone made her feel a ways and made her do the apology.
10. Getting Out
According to Kathy she’s “not talking to white women bitches. I am not talkin’ to white bitches.” She can’t believe that more white women voted for Donald Trump than for Hillary Clinton and that alone was “such a let down” that she’s done with that demographic.
Don’t let none of them undercover Trumpians take you out for tea, KG. You might come back talking that pro-Trump rhetoric and banning flash photography from your shows. Just sayin.’
