After talking about it for a minute, Joe Budden has finally debuted his new Hip-Hop talk show State of The Culture and it did not disappoint.
Taking to the stage with co-hosts Remy Ma and Scottie Beam, and Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins, Joe Budden and company touched on all of Hip-Hop’s hottest topics this week such as Cardi B’s altercation with Nicki Minaj, Nas’s co-parenting drama with Kelis, and Kanye West’s apology to his fans. While opinions absolutely differed on each topic as expected, Joe and Remy Ma shed some light on their personal life and how it effects how they viewed each particular situation.
Here are the 7 things we learned from the cast of REVOLT’s premiere episode of State of The Culture.

1. Cardi & Nicki
Speaking on the Cardi B vs. Nicki Minaj fight, Remy says it shouldn’t surprise anyone since she’s been “Cardi B, the b*tch from the Bronx for 25 years and she’s been Cardi B the b*tch with the number 1 record for one year. Which behavior you think is gonna trump the other?”

2. Eminem
Remy Ma liked Eminem’s disses on Kamikaze and says “Joe’s scared to death” and “p*ssy” so he won’t respond. Joe Budden on the other hand feels that had a Black rapper used the same punch lines and gimmicks Hip-Hoppers would’ve killed said rapper for his simpleness. Jinx himself feels that Eminem’s been corny for the past 10 years.
3. Colin Kaepernick
Remy Ma doesn’t think Nike made a “bold move” by making Colin Kaepernick the face of their campaign. She feels they made a business move and that had they been sincere about the movement they would’ve been done this move. Budden for his part thinks this was Nike’s response to adidas creators commercial.

4. Boycott Brands
Joe Budden admits that he boycotted Tommy Hilfiger and Timberland (for a year) when the racist comments they made back in the day surfaced (alleged, they were both refuted). Joe admits he boycotted Hilfiger when it began falling off though.

5. Baby Mama Drama
Even though Joe Budden hated his original baby mama because she wouldn’t let him see his kid, he looks back on that situation gratefully that she was strong enough to hold the kid down while he toured the world. That’s a positive way to look at a negative period in one’s life.
6. Papa’z Song
Remy remembers that growing up her biological father wouldn’t visit her much because her mother made it hard on him (he had a baby with another woman) and anytime he’d try there’d be some kind of violent altercation with her step-father. She didn’t figure that out until she got older though. Joe Budden’s father meanwhile was in and out of prison while dealing with drug addiction. Joe commends his mother for protecting his father’s likeness in his eyes and telling him that his father was just always working late or something to that effect.

7. Kanye West
Even though Kanye West apologized for his recent antics, Joe Budden feels that he’s doing so for the sake of consumers who were offended. “I didn’t give a f*ck about his apology nor did I feel like he owed me one or Black people one. But he’s wrong in like every area I point to… he’s done too much damage for me to give a f*ck about anything he has to say about any of this sh*t.” Remy for her part called it a “Gemini apology.” We guess that’s a thing if you’re into astrological birth signs or horoscopes and whatnot.
