YG’s been doing his thing and reppin’ the West Coast hard for quite some time now. Qith his latest album Stay Dangerous getting burn all over Lala Land and hoods across the board, the Def Jam rapper is making the media rounds in support of his latest LP.
Today (August 8) the “Suu Whoop” rapper swung through New York City with a bottle of tequila and checked in with The Breakfast Club to talk about his business ventures and his views on life.
Touching on everything from why it’s 10 times harder on real n*ggas to Colin Kaepernick, YG opens up without fear of judgment or ridicule.
Here are the 9 things we learned from YG on The Breakfast Club.
1. Barneys
YG’s clothing line, 4HUNNID, is actually going to be sold at Barneys. Bad and boujee for real. Remember the days when rapper’s clothing lines were mainly sold at Dr. Jays, Jimmy Jazz and whatever neighborhood mom and pop spots whose main source of income was mixtapes?

2. What Are Those?!
That picture floating around of YG rocking some jelly Gucci sandals with white socks on that people are clowning wasn’t meant to be shown. When he took the picture he told his homie not to get the shoes in the picture because he knew it was a fashion fail. Sho’nuff your homies gonna do what you ask them not to do for laughs and now that picture’s back to haunt him. At least they was Gucci?
3. Girls Run The World
YG feels that “the punani runs the world.” Beyoncé said as much on “Run the World (Girls).” That being said G says he won’t trick on a woman (who doesn’t deserve it) but has got some “bandos” off women who’s tricked on him.
4. Real Ni**a Problems
YG says it’s 10x harder for a real ni**a because the heads who keep it too real tend to keep a lot of emotions inside instead of talking about them with anyone. He feels that adds to the whole mental health things that G’s go through as they walk through life. He’s not wrong.
5. Tekashi 6ix9ine
Talking about that tweet where he said “I want all the smoke” and called out Tekashi 6ix9ine, YG plainly said “I said it and that’s how I feel. Yeah, so what?! The little n*gga was playing too much of the real sh*t so I had to say something.” And for all those rappers who pretend to be gangbangers YG says he “prays for them.”
6. Colin Kaepernick
The situation where Madden took out Colin Kaepernick’s name off his song, YG said that he called his peoples to see what was going on but ultimately he didn’t have anything to do with it. And even though he supports Kap, YG says he’s watching the NFL because “I’m a sports n*gga” but if he was on the field with Kap he would’ve took a knee with him.
7. FDT
As for his “F*ck Donald Trump” record, YG says authorities did send a letter to the label about it and apparently asked radio stations not to play it because it “encourages the assassination of Donald Trump.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump encourages violence against his protestors and the free press.
8. BET Awards
YG says that BET canceled his performance with Nipsey Hussle after Nipsey blessed some dude with the hand of God in the parking lot. Fortunately, 20 minutes before they hit the stage BET decided to let them live and perform at the awards show.
9. Vegas Jux
Speaking about that robbery charge he caught in Las Vegas, YG says he never snatched anyone’s chain but ultimately can’t talk about the case since it’s still ongoing.
