Hova still has plenty of knowledge and info to give.

Jay-Z’s turn on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman on Netflix was efficiently dope. While a Hova diehard may have heard many familiar stories, there were plenty of jewels to be mined from the insightful combo.
For those of you for some odd reason not yet ready to step into the episode, we compiled some of the finer moments from the interview.
Jigga and Letterman are masters of their crafts—while both are admittedly flawed men—and it made for a great chat.
Here are 10 things we learned from Jay-Z, and David Letterman, too. Starting with…
Brick City
Yeah yeah, Jay-Z was a drug dealer. But even Letterman was shocked at the money he was bringing in as a teenager.
David Letterman: “At 16 you were bringing home $2000 a day?”
Jay-Z: “Yeah yeah.”
Letterman: “My God.”
Also, shout out to Spanish Jose. “It was everywhere. Everywhere in the neighborhood,” said Jay-Z about crack cocaine in the 80’s in NYC. “For me it was a guy, Spanish Jose, his family owned a bodega…”
The plug is real, as are statutes of limitations.

“A big bucket of frozen water on my chest…”
Jay-Z recalled being inspired by his 6th grade English teacher Ms. Lowden who was getting money. On a class trip to her crib he peeped she had an ice machine.
The Washington Post actually found her.
Jay-Z and Kanye West are “brothers.” Read: They’re probably not back to where they were before.
On Kanye: “That’s my brother, we’re beyond friends. Literally, my little brother is Kanye. And like your little brother, things happen sometimes.”

“The Originator none greater…”
Hova says that rolling with Jaz-O save his life. After signing his deal with EMI, the label sent Jaz to London to record with DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s producers. While he was out there, all the dope boys that Jay-Z was running with got indicted and eventually sent to jail.

David Letterman is woke.
While discussing Cheeto, of course the topic of his racism and bigotry, and that of across the land, came up.
“We don’t need any more evidence,” said David Letterman. “If you’re having a debate over whether a guy is a racist, chances are that guy is a racist.”
Where is the lie?

2 White Guys, A White Girl
Interspersed the interview was footage of David Letterman basically kicking it with Rick Rubin—and watching Madison Ryann Ward sing. That’s cool, but uh…still felt random, despite “99 Problems.”
Finding Forever
Jay-Z said he never finished “Young Forever” off his The Blueprint 3 album to his liking. “It bothers me,” he said. Say word?
That Was Fast
Much has been said about Jay-Z’s mother coming out to him that she was a lesbian (he had known, but it was the first time she told him she was in love). Hova admitted he shed a tear, but him saying he made “TK” the next day was a “wow.”
Our bad.
In not so many words, David Letterman talks about cheating on his wife. If you’re unaware, it was a big scandal where instead of getting extorted, Letterman came clean, took the L, and his marriage survived. Familiar territory for Hova, minus the extortion. It was so real, you just gotta watch it for yourself.
Retirement, again?
When ask how long he would keep rapping, Jay-Z said, “As long as I have truth to say, and information to give.”
Sounds like forever. We’re not mad at that.
