While Drake has been crowned The King of The North for quite some time now, Tory Lanez could easily be considered the prince of the city and with his new album Memories Don’t Die fresh off the presses, he’s bound to get some more royal recognition.
Today the Toronto representative stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk with the morning trio (sans DJ Envy) and revealed some interesting tidbits. From the inspiration from his album title to why Nicki Minaj took her verse off of “Shooters,” Tory isn’t shy about being honest regardless of how he may come off.
Here are the 12 things we learned from Tory Lanez on The Breakfast Club.

1. Fake Friends
The meaning behind his latest album title Memories Don’t Die is based on the time his friends didn’t hold him down when some cats tried to rush Tory. That’s when he realized he was with fake friends and has since been particular about who he lets into his cipher.
2. Honest Abe
Tory considers himself a trustworthy person because he’s a “very blunt” person. In other words he’s painfully honest because he hates getting caught lying.
3. Donkey Of The Day
Responding to Tha God’s Donkey of The Day honors, Tory says he spent all that paper at the Gucci store it’s because he got a clothing budget and Interscope Records reimburses him for whatever he spends. He also says he got racially profiled by a white worker there who he felt assumed he didn’t have any paper to spend in the store. So he gave his business to the Indian dude working there because he knew he’d get the commission over the other guy.
4. Fathered Them
Tory Lanez feels that a lot of artists are popping with his sounds because when he was ghostwriting for other artists before he jumped on the scene, he feels that “there was just a lot of innovative sounds that I created and I put in place of people and it’s like they ran with it.”
5. Ghost Writer
Tory reveals that he wrote and sang the hook to “Brand New Chopper” with Travis Scott, T.I., and Meek Mill. He says he was surprised when he heard Travis singing the hook, but says Travis told him he never wanted to do that hook but a check is a check. He feels like singing another writers song is like wearing another mans drawers. That being said…
6. No Shame
Tory says that he has indeed wore other mans drawers and isn’t ashamed of it because growing up broke as hell wasn’t no joke.
7. Hola
Looking to expand his sound, Tory says he’s working on a Spanish album. Though he can’t speak Spanish fluently he feels he knows enough to freak some records.
8. Death On The Mind
Tory admits that he constantly thinks about suddenly dying in a plane crash whenever he travels. He feels safer whenever he sees innocent old white ladies on the plane because he thinks they’re good omens.
9. Undiagnosed Condition
Tory says he has “little ni**a syndrome” which is basically the hood equivalent to the “Napoleon complex.” He refuses to let anyone “punk” him.
10. Drake
He squashed the beef with Drake through mutual friends, Trav and Chubs. He says before he did he called Meek Mill to tell him he was going to squash his beef with Drake, Meek wasn’t even tripping and told him he was surprised he hadn’t done so already.
11. Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj was originally on “Shooters” but after he texted her asking her to change something around on her verse to fit the hook, she took herself off the cut. He says he loves Nicki still though and feels kind of bad about how his request may have come off.
12. God’s Son
Tory recalls how his friend had a prophetic vision with his deceased mother in which she asked him to tell Tory that he’s talented in order to be “an instrument of God.” And should he stray from the path God set for him he’d surely die. Beware them airplanes after a night of fornication my dude.
