Police arrested a third man Wednesday involved in the July 25 robbery and murder of boxing champion, Vernon Forrest. Charman Sinkfield was driving on Interstate 20 in Atlanta before being stopped by U.S. Marshalls. Sinkfield, who was trying to conceal his identity in a dreadlock wig, has been charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Sinkfield has already served three state prison terms, the most recent for cocaine possession. He is believed to be the man that shot Forrest and the final suspect in the murder.

The two other men arrested were Demario Ware and Jquante Crews. Demario Ware turned himself into police, Tuesday August 4 after being caught on a surveillance camera confronting and robbing Forrest. He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, robbery and two gun charges. Jqante Crews is believed to be the get-away driver after the robbery.

Vernon Forrest was fatally shot eight times after chasing and shooting at a man that robbed him outside an Atlanta gas station. He exchanged words with another man after failing to catch the robber and was shot eight times as he turned away to leave. Vernon Forrest was part of the 1992 U.S. Olympic boxing team and a former WBC super welterweight champion.
