While Chicago ever having had a strangle hold on the rap game is debatable, a lot of the game’s top talent does indeed hail from the Windy City. G Herbo happens to be one of those special MCs and with his hood acclaimed album Humble Beast having finally hit the streets, he is ready for his close-up.
Checking into The Breakfast Club, G chops it up with Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee about the science behind his album title, the reason he dropped out of school, and why Chicago doesn’t get the rap credit it deserves.
Here are the 7 things we learned from G Herbo on The Breakfast Club.

1. Humbled
Even though his name is ringing bells in the music game, G Herbo doesn’t feel he’s proven himself yet. That’s why he titled his album Humble Beast.

2. School Daze
G Herbo had to stop going to school because the beefs he had in the streets had his enemies looking for him at his school. Even his own mother told him not to go school anymore (Lavar Ball should’ve used this excuse). He eventually got his high school diploma going the online route.

3. Little Big Man
At 15-years-old G was dating 30-year-old women. Was she his teacher? We’re not condoning this, by the way.

4. Gangsta Lean
Messing around with that Lean, G Herbo made some dude run his pockets for knocking over his cup.

5. Rap Game/Street Game
G Herbo fell back from the street game because he felt it was interfering with his Hip-Hop career in more ways than one. Makes sense.

6. Kanye West
G Herbo doesn’t knock Kanye West for not doing much for the city of Chicago because we don’t know what he might be going through. He does feel Ye might’ve done a lot for the city that we might not know of.

7. Chicago Rap
He feels that Chicago doesn’t get enough props in the Hip-Hop game because they don’t stick together as Chicagoans. For his part he’s making an effort to change that narrative.
