For the last few years A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s been bubbling to the top of the charts on the independent circuit, but now that he has his first major label deal locked up the Bronx artist is ready to take his pound of flesh from the mainstream.
Recently the “My Sh*t” rapper stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about signing with Atlantic Records, why he wrote “No Promises” and why he won’t sleep with his fans.
Here are the 6 things we learned from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on The Breakfast Club.

1. We Major
Even though A Boogie already had a few platinum and gold records without being signed, he wanted to go through the label process to learn from it and ultimately signed a multi-album deal with Atlantic. Same folks who gave Cardi B a multi-million dollar deal. They really got their ear to the streets don’t they?

2. New School York
When he first dropped “My Sh*t” Boogie says people thought he was from Atlanta. He went with that style “just to reel them in” so now he can hit him with his skills. He said that “old New York sound ain’t the sound no more” and is looking to go along with the new wave and create his own sound.

3. No Promises
Boogie penned “No Promises” after learning that an 18-year-old fan was killed at one of his performances.

4. Heartbreakin’ Inspiration
An unfaithful girlfriend who apparently tried to pin a baby on him helped inspire A Boogie to write a song that helped him gain attention in his hood. He stylin’ on said shorty now though. Success is indeed the best revenge.

5. Cardi B
Naturally A Boogie is “OD excited” for fellow Bronx native Cardi B’s record-setting success. We’re waiting on that collabo.

6. Groupie Love
Even with all the success and groupies that come along with it, A Boogie says he’s still with his baby moms and remains faithful to her. Pray he doesn’t get worn down y’all. He says “you can’t f*ck all your fans” cause they “gonna catch feelings for you.” Tell that to Ghostface Killah.
