8 Things We Learned From Dave East On The Breakfast Club

Since making his debut in the rap game back in 2010, Dave East’s been on a mission to not only make a name for himself but also bring New York Hip-Hop back to the forefront of the game.

After getting down with Nas’ Mass Appeal Records and Def Jam, Dave finally released his debut EP Paranoia this week and is looking to ascend to the top of the Hip-Hop charts.

Today the Harlem World native stopped by the Breakfast Club for a quick pow-wow where he spoke on the title of his new project, male groupies, and Christina Milian.

1. Paranoia

He named his album Paranoia because “I don’t be trusting nobody” and because he’s a new dad and has to be more on point for everything.

2. Male Groupies

His celebrity allows him to see the “weirdness” in his male fans such as a couple debating about who gets to take a picture with Dave first. Male groupies can sometimes be the worst.

3. Bossin

Dave East doesn’t have a traditional record deal. He has a partnership deal with Mass Appeal and Def Jam.

4. Wayno

Dave says he never fired his manager Wayno and “he’s very much still involved” in his career. He’s just been too busy to handle his day-to-day moves.

5. The Vapors

DE is realizing that Big wasn’t lying when he said more money brings more problems. Since the fame he’s seen how people in his circle with their hands out turn into haters when he doesn’t let them hold something.

6. Tyra Banks Effect

Tyra Banks is calling for Dave East to get into the modeling gig. He says after that a few agencies reached out to him to gauge his interest. He says he’d do the runway thing.

7. No Beef

When it comes to his rap peers beefing with each other, Dave says he’s not taking any sides unless he actually grew up and threw down with someone involved.

He took his back-in-the-day crush, Christina Milian on a date through Dyckman in Harlem and then on to the strip club, Lust.
