It seems like a lifetime ago that Ace Hood and DJ Khaled were slowly helping each other come into their own in the rap world. Since then they’ve parted ways and while Khaled has gone on to become a household name, Ace Hood’s become one of the nicest independent rappers in the game.

Today (Aug. 18), the Port St. Lucie, Florida rapper stopped by NYC and checked in on The Breakfast Club to talk about his surprising decision to split from DJ Khaled, how yoga impacted his life, and whether or not he’d sign to a record label again.

Here are the 8 things we learned from Ace Hood On The Breakfast Club.

1. Going Dolo

Ace says that Khaled supported his vision to go and do his own thing and appreciates all that Khaled did for him. He just felt that he couldn’t stand out and do his own thing under Khaled’s “umbrella.”
