Most people know her for having had a history as an MTV VJ for TRL and of course being married to NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony. But La La Anthony has been making a name for herself in the entertainment industry, most notably, her role as LaKeisha on Starz’s hit show Power.

Now the woman who is referred to as the first lady of the NBA stopped by Ebro In The Morning to speak about her separation with Carmelo Anthony, her thoughts on Phil Jackson’s firing and why Ludacris hated her when she first started her career in radio.

Here are the 7 things we learned from La La On Ebro In The Morning.

1. Like Father Like Son

La La says that she and Melo never pushed basketball on their son and that it’s been his choice to follow in his father’s footsteps.

2. The Detour

Being married for 12 years to Carmelo Anthony she feels like their current separation is a “detour” which in essence leaves the possibility open for a reconciliation. She also says she loves him and he’s an incredible father and won’t dog him.

3. Bye Phil-ecia

She wasn’t surprised by the firing of Phil Jackson but does say that her experiences with reviled Knicks owner James Dolan as “incredible.” She says he’s treated her and Melo with much respect.

4. Close To Home

La La says that Melo and Kristaps Porzingis have a genuinely good relationship. Unfortunately, it’s looking like Melo might be breaking boogie to another team. La La confirms that he wants to stay close to the family and says Cleveland and Boston are close to home.

5. Chaka Zulu

La La got her big break at the age of 15 (she lied about her age) when Chaka Zulu gave her an internship and eventually put her on the radio with Ludacris. Ludacris hated her, apparently.

6. Ludacris

La La remembers how pre-rap star Ludacris once came up with the idea of investing their money in vending machines and stacking them up with candy. Is there really money in that?

7. Old School Crew

La La knew 2 Chainz and a few other ATL rappers before they blew up because they were all broke and living together in different apartments while they were on the come up.
