The Roots Add 9Th Wonder & Salaam Remi As Producers For New LP
9th Wonder, Salaam Remi Added As Producers For The Roots Upcoming LP
The Roots are currently working on their 17th studio album, End Game, all while holding down the house band duties on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well. While the band is more than capable of creating their own heat with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and the rest of the gang on deck, they’ve reached out to 9th Wonder and Salaam Remi to add to their sound.
XXL reports:
For End Game, 9th Wonder and Salaam Remi will be working on the LP alongside producer Stro Elliot and Karriem Riggins. Black Thought, Questlove and the rest of the group have been working on their forthcoming project since last fall when they held a writersā retreat.
āLast October we had a writersā retreat at Electric Lady Studios in New York City for about a week or so and within that time we got about a good deal of the groundwork of whatās to come for the record, End Game,ā Black Thought tells XXL over the phone. āIāve been working, writing and recording on it since then.ā
The album, which serves as the follow-up to 2014ās ā¦And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, doesnāt have a release date yet but itās one of the most anticipated projects in hip-hop right now. While The Roots donāt have a scheduled date for the End Game, theyāre in no rush to drop it. The album will come out when itās fully complete.
Last October, Questlove teased some of the new sounds with video of Stro Elliot going to work with the beats and we must say, it sounded incredible. We added the clip of that teaser for your viewing pleasure below.
