Regardless of how you may feel, Irv Gotti’s Hip-Hop legacy is well cemented in Hip-Hop. While his fall is also just as legendary, everyone agrees it’s all about how you pick yourself back up.
Recently Irv announced that not only is he bringing a new Hip-Hop inspired television series to BET called Tales, he’s also re-launching his baby, Murder Inc. Records.
Today (June 9), the Queens producer stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about his new ventures, where Ashanti stands in all of it, and how a psychic warned him that he was about to go through the motions in the mid 00’s.
Here are the 12 things we learned from Irv Gotti on The Breakfast Club.

1. Murder Inc.
Irv Gotti credits his daughter and Diddy’s Bad Boy tour as the inspiration to relaunch the Murder Inc. record label.
2. Island Def Jam
When Irv was going through his trial he says the US government told Island Def Jam that if they give him a single dollar that they were going to be his co-defendant in court. That made them back away from Irv’s music career.
3. Hating The Inc.
Gotti admits that he hated renaming Murder Inc. “The Inc.” because he felt he was pressured by his parent labels to do so and made him be a “b*tch *ss.”
4. Ashanti
Irv won’t commit to bringing back Ashanti to Murder Inc. but says he and Ja talk about it. He says what she said to him made him feel a way about bringing her back into the fold.
5. Fyre
Even with all the slander that’s engulfed Ja for the past few months, Irv says he would still book his artists to perform at Fyre events. Now that’s a friend for real.
6. Jay-Z
Irv created friction with Jay-Z when he collaborated with Nas in the mid 00s. Irv takes responsibility for that and blames his own ambition. He and Jay are now back to being brothers again and worked a deal to have Tales streamed on Tidal.
7. DMX
Irv says that DMX isn’t really cool with anyone who raps because X views that microphone as his instrument and his alone. Gotta respect that. Irv adds that he wanted to do X’s biopic inspired by “Slippin’” but deaded the move when the exec’s at BET wanted to change the story to make it more interesting.
8. Supreme Team
Gotti shoots down the rumor that Supreme extorted him because he says he can “never get extorted.” He says Preme was his friend and was even in his wedding.
9. Psychic Network
At the height of his success in 2002 Irv went to a psychic and she told him that he was about to go through hell, no one would believe a word he would say, and there was nothing he could do about it. Not too long afterwards the feds raided the Murder Inc. offices and 50 Cent blew up. On the bright side she told him he was going to change the world. He’s still waiting on that to come to fruition.
10. 50 Cent
He says he’ll never talk to 50 Cent again but they can co-exist and if 50 “wanna dance” they can “dance.”
11. Ex To The Next
Irv broke up with his 21-year-old girl Ashley because she had jealous tendencies. He says they still love each other though.
12. Ready For Love?
Irv says he knows he can be faithful and monogamous now because in his words, “I’m all f*cked out” but still leaves the door open to possibly cheat on said woman.
