While everyone’s been talking about Dave Chappelle and Tracy Morgan’s stand up specials on Netflix, Hasan Minhaj’s Homecoming King has really flown under the radar.
The comedian’s career though has been steadily bubbling and after hitting Donald Trump with a few zingers at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, he’s garnered more attention than expected.
Today, the California comic checked into the Breakfast Club to give his take on Bill Maher, being a Muslim comedian, and how he was ready for a Donald Trump appearance at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
Here are the 7 things we learned from Hasan Minhaj on The Breakfast Club.

1. Bill Maher
Hasan Minhaj recognizes Bill Maher’s Islamophobic rhetoric but even though he himself is a Muslim, he won’t deny him his props for “groundbreaking” work in his medium.
2. The “N” Word
Hasan said he never uses the “N” word nor would he use it even if someone would give him the pass to use it.
3. Racial Slurs
Minhaj says that post 9/11 he has been called a “sand n*gger,” “dune coon,” and “camel jockey.” Can’t say we ever heard the dune one.
4. Muslim Jokes
He doesn’t mind when comedians make Muslim jokes because he believes in free speech, but says he will present a better argument for his culture from his point of view and let the audience decide who’s sane.
5. Alt-Right Backlash
Hasan said he’s endured lots of heat from the alt-right movement on social media for his White House Correspondent’s Dinner performance. He refuses to engage though.
6. Orange Appeal
The comedian says he had an “orange card” filled with Trump jokes ready to go should have Donald Trump actually showed up to the Correspondent’s Dinner. Unfortunately, Agent Orange didn’t show.
7. Kathy Griffin
He feels Kathy Griffin’s controversial photo of Trump wasn’t a good idea and she shouldn’t have taken it that far. He does recognize that his career would’ve been over quick fast like Ramadan had he done the same exact stunt. Especially with the whole Isis comparisons.
