7 Things We Learned From SZA on The Breakfast Club

SZA (no relation to RZA, GZA or the Old Dirty BZA) is probably TDE’s most overlooked artist. But, she is on the verge of being the label’s next breakout star with the release of her upcoming album, CTRL this Friday (June 9).

Today the first lady of TDE swung through The Breakfast Club and sat down with the popular morning trio to speak about that time she went off on TDE on Twitter, why she cheated on her man on Valentines Day, and the reason behind her tribute track to Drew Barrymore. Yes, Charlie’s Angel from E.T.

1. Sidechick

As far as sidechickin’ go, SZA feels that if a man has a “sidechick” that just means he doesn’t have a girlfriend for real. Interesting theory.

2. TDE Twitter Attack

SZA explained that when she blacked out on TDE on Twitter she admits it was because she was getting answers about the quality of her album. Couple that with the fact that she saw someone pass away that day and it just drove her over the artistic edge.

3. Valentines Day Massacre

When SZA said she secretly banged her mans homeboy on Valentines Day, she said it was true. In her defense it was after she found out her man was participating in an orgy.

People clown her for calling herself SZA and not being a part of the Wu-Tang Clan. She does say she’s a fan of the Wu, but her name was birthed from her old nickname, Sosa.

5. Mexico Hit-N-Run

One time while in Mexico she got hit by a car while she was on a motorcycle. Once the police showed up with guns galore she decided to just pay $1000 for the accident, walk away and enjoy the rest of her vacation.

6. Drew Barrymore

She dedicated a record to Drew Barrymore because of all the white actresses of her youth, Drew was the most relatable one of them all. Can’t say we saw that coming.

7. 9/11

The reason she stopped wearing her hijab after 9/11 was because kids began to bully her for her association to Islam. Her father is a Muslim and her mother is a Christian by the way.
