8 Things We Learned From Jerrod Carmichael & Lil Rel On The Breakfast Club

If you haven’t noticed, Jerrod Carmichael and Lil Rel Howery have quietly been bubbling to blow for a hot minute now.

With the combination of Lil Rel’s work in the critically acclaimed Get Out and Jerrod’s HBO special, 8, the two have set up season 3 of The Carmichael Show for a huge breakthrough.

Today the two stars stopped by The Breakfast Club where they both spoke on their careers in stand-up, older actors possibly hating on Jerrod, and what Rel walked away with for doing Get Out.

1. Stand-Up Appreciation

Lil Rel says he hasn’t done another stand-up special because he wants people to go back and see his first one and appreciate that more.

2. Charity Work

Jerrod won’t do a charity unless he really connects with it. Because of that he says he might start his own.

3. Older Actors

Rel feels that there’s a “clicky thing” going on between the older and younger actors in the game and feels they hatin’ on Jerrod for not playing the game like they do.

4. Who You?

When Jerrod first met Rel he dapped him up and showed him love, but Rel didn’t know who he was and just thanked him before walking away.

5. Fair Warning

JC admits that he’s angered a few audience members with his edge stand-up material.

6. Chris Rock

Chris Rock once called Lil Rel and told him his special was great and “ain’t none of us better than you.”

Lil Rel leaked information that some audience members walked out of Chris Rock’s stand-up show because of a gun bit that Rock did. He won’t say exactly what he said though and will leave it a surprise for Rock’s upcoming Netflix special. Donald Trump could learn a thing or two about loose lips from Rel. Just sayin’.

8. Get Out

Rel got a backend deal on Get Out because there wasn’t enough money to pay him upfront. That said, Rel say he’s never “indulged” in a white girl. He says he likes em “chocolate… specifically with glasses.”
