Since his release from prison, Emory Jones has been making his friend Jay Z very proud. Recently locking down his own sneaker with Puma, the man simply known as “Vegas” stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his new deal, Roc-A-Fella Records and more.

After Hov’s “Do U Wanna Ride,” Jones’ name became legendary in the streets. Now the Roc Nation executive has eyes on the fashion industry.

DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God got him to discuss the early days of the Roc, the “Bet On Yourself” campaign, empowering today’s youth and more.

1. Hard Knocks

Emory got locked up right as Jay was going to start the Hard Knock Life tour.

2. Bet On Yourself

The idea behind Bet On Yourself campaign is to use Emory as an example that you are your greatest asset and investing in your talent is necessary for success.

3. Vegas

Emory got the nickname “Vegas” from his Roc-A-Fella crew during a legendary trip to Las Vegas where he apparently blew through some serious money to make sure the team felt comfortable.

4. Apparel

In his role at Roc Nation he oversees anything related to apparel. Additionally, the popular paper plane logo is his baby.

5. Being Vocal

Notorious for being humble and rather understated, Emory has tried to become a better speaker so he can in turn spread his message of empowerment to more people.

6. Biggs

When speaking of Biggs he mentioned that he is a good guy with a great heart, therefore he will always be in a position to win.

7. Jim Jones

He cosigns Jim Jones’ recent signing to Roc Nation. Emory and the Roc Nation team are thinking big picture thus leaving old beefs in the past.


8. Do U Wanna Ride?

At first he was against Jay Z doing the song but after he was assured the tune wasn’t written to define their bond. A corrections officer eventually played him the song from a mixtape when he was still locked up.

9. Iron Horse

Even with millions in the bank Emory’s favorite mode of transportation in New York City is the public train system.

10. Marcy Projects

He met Jay through a friend that lived in the same building as Jay but this certain someone is no longer around. We are only left to assume he is referring to DeHaven.
