Yesterday the Hip-Hop world was shocked to learn that Harlem’s own Jim Jones signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management team. Not because Jim Jones is the hottest free agent in the game (no shots) but because the history that Jay and Jim share is riddled with more beef than Oscar Mayer.
Today (Feb. 9) New York’s rider man stopped by Hot 97 and chopped it up with Funk Master Flex and spoke about his new home, Dipset’s break up, and being the originator of Love & Hip Hop.
At one point, Jones was driven to tears.
Here are the 18 things we learned from an often emotional Jim Jones on Hot 97.

1. Biggie
Before Biggie died he was going to sign Cam’Ron to his label. It wasn’t until they ran into Lance “Un” Rivera (Big’s business partner) that Cam got signed to Untertainment.
2. Dipset
Jim Jones says he assembled the Dipset army around Cam’Ron to keep him protected from dudes rolling over them. He made sure Cam never got touched.
3. Me Against The World
Apparently Jim Jones had to face crews up to 30-40 deep after his peoples dipped on him (no pun intended) and he would still dap them up afterwards.
4. No Coppin’ Pleas
At one point he declined to take a plea deal for allegedly being involved in an Uptown shootout over Cam’Ron. The case was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
6. Cam & Sony
Jim Jones and Cam ran up in Sony with 40 heads and forced them to sign off on Cam’Ron’s walking papers.
7. Rap Beef
Even though Dipset beefed with Jay-Z and Nas, Jim says they were huge fans of them before they got into the music industry.
8. Dame Dash
Jim says Dame was the reason that Cam and Jay couldn’t co-exist on Rocafella. Jim sided with Cam on the issue because that was his man.
9. Jay-Z
It wasn’t until Jay responded with a “Ballin’” response that Jones realized that Jay considered him a real rapper. It made Jim’s day.
10. Management Change
Jim Jones deaded his old manager when he learned things he didn’t like and hired 50 Cent’s manager. That might’ve rubbed Cam the wrong way.

11. Cam’Ron
Jim still feels a certain way about Cam never doing a surprise appearance at one of his shows.
12. 50 Cent
Jim Jones was “in cahoots” with 50 Cent about how to do a Dipset/G-Unit collaboration before the beef with Cam’ron began.
13. Mendeecees
Apparently, Jim Jones put hands on Mendeecees Harris in the St. Nick projects. And as far as Cam being accused of droppin’ dime, Jim says he doesn’t know if Cam is a snitch but he knows he’s an Aquarius.
14. Roc Nation
He signed with Roc Nation due to his relationship with OG Juan (Jay’s man) and seeing how successful Roc Nation’s been since its inception.
15. Max B
As far as his relationship with Max B, “He can die where he stand… it’s that that man is in jail and I can never talk bad or down about somebody’s that in jail… if he come out and he’s still into it I’ma bust his ass, ya heard?” Well, that’s that.
16. French Montana
Jim said he’s opening to mending fences with French Montana a.k.a. the new Jim Jones in the new Dipset. Jim’s referring to French making a record with Cam and Juelz Santana. He’s also opening to shooting the fair one with French. So there’s that.
17. Love & Hip Hop
He feels that Love & Hip Hop executive producer Mona Scott jerked him out of a whole franchise which is why he went hard on her on social media. He says he created Love & Hip Hop. According to him he and his manager, Mona Scott, went into the VH1 meeting and when they walked out, Mona was the producer of the show. He says he and Emily named the show Love & Hip Hop.
18. Love & Hip Hop 2
Jim says the only way VH1 was going to give him the executive producer credits was if he stuck around for another season of the show to which he responded to by walking out the door. He and Chrissy got their own show but was let go because VH1 was doing more business with Mona Scott.
