Entrepreneurship has long been considered to be an unofficial element of Hip-Hop and weed has always been the culture’s drug of choice. So it makes all of the sense in the world for rappers who love the green leaf to start getting into the legal business of selling it.

Legal marijuana is expected to be a $40 billion industry by 2020. But the Hip-Hop community has only capitalized in a fraction of the potential way that it can. Add that to people of color seemingly being left out of the marketplace, there is more than enough room for more rappers to get involved.  A number of rappers have endorsed numerous marijuana-related products but only a few have secured their own strains. Here is a list of your favorite rappers who are involved in the growing, budding industry from all angles.

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg came in the game smoking and he’s still burning. Snoop started his own company, Leafs By Snoop and already has eight strains of his own ranging in names and flavors. He has also endorsed numerous blunt wraps and vape pens throughout the years.

Berner

In some circles, Berner is known more for his Girl Scout Cookies strain and the accompanying Cookies lines of products than he is for his music. We’re sure he doesn’t mind that at all.

Freddie Gibbs

Freddie Gibbs‘ has had his own strain almost a year now. His “Freddie Kane OG” was developed with Chroncierge. Users have described it as “euphoric, tranquilizing and analgesic”.

Paul Wall

While Paul Wall came in the game connected to Houston’s favorite “drank,” known as lean, he ventured off into the legal weed business almost a decade ago. He teamed up with creators of the Satellite OG Kush strand and became a partner in their company. He’s also created a clothing and lifestyle brand to go along with it.

B-Real

The biggest OG in the Hip-Hop weed world next to Snoop is probably B-Real of Cypress Hill. The man also known as Dr. Greenthumb has an award-winning strand called “Tangie” that took home the 3rd place prize for Best Cannabis flower at the 2015 Cannabis Cup.

Master P

The “Ice Cream Man” got into the legal weed game in late 2016 with this Master P’s Trees line that includes strain flavors like Sweet Tea, Peach Cobbler, Coolaide, Red Velvet and Chocolate Beignet. He’s also selling golden vape pens that he’s calling “liquid blunts.”

Cam’Ron

Largely known for his 2004 album Purple Haze, Cam’Ron signed on to have his own strain via popular West Coast company Chroncierge. The strand is expected to be purple or pink-hued with a grape soda flavor.
