When news broke that Kanye West was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for his “own health and safety,” speculation began to swirl that the Chicago superstar was suffering from a mental breakdown. Twitter has had mixed reactions to the news of West’s hospitalization, showing just how polarizing West is as an artist.
The crash for West began shortly after the Monday (Nov. 21) cancellation of the “Saint Pablo Tour” which Live Nation said in a statement was due to West’s exhaustion. While insiders continue to perform media damage control over West’s erraticĀ behavior and outbursts during sets in recent days, outside chatter remains wholly focused on West’s mental state.
Mental illness is no laughing matter, yet that hasn’t stopped some on Twitter from diving in with jokes poking fun at West’s perceived mental fragility. However, there are more than enough fans and supporters who have pushed back against the jokesters for their insensitive remarks.
Additionally, there has been a hashtag, “#PrayForKanye,” that has been trending on Twitter as of Tuesday morning which has more positive results than what we’ve seen thus far.
