When Tracy Morgan was left in critical condition due to a deadly bus accident in the summer of 2014 many thought that his days bringing laughter to millions were over.
Luckily for the world that isn’t the case as is proof in today’s interview with The Breakfast Club.
Joking about his experiences and speaking seriously about his faith, Tracy shows Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee (whom he says he would’ve spoiled with McDonalds in high school) that not only is he still as funny as ever, but that the accident that almost derailed his career set him on a positive path that he wouldn’t have been on had that night in June 2014 not occurred.
Here are the 10 things we learned about Tracy Morgan on The Breakfast Club.
1. Heavenly Vision
During his near death experience Tracy says he found himself in the company of Richard Pryor, Jackie Gleason and other comic greats. He said Richard winked his eye at him and told him to “stay funny.”
2. Seeing Redd
He’s playing Redd Foxx in the Richard Pryor biopic but isn’t looking to just act like the comic legend, he’s hoping to channel his spirit in the film like Jamie Foxx did Ray Charles in Ray.
3. Need To Know Basis
Tracy says his entire face was broken by the bus accident he was in and was in worse condition than what people had heard. He says no one needed to know that though.
4. Rolling Big
Tracy says he bought a Lambo, two Rolls Royces, and a Bugatti… in a half hour.
5. All About Me
Tracy isn’t into roasting people for comedic value. He’d rather make fun of himself instead of hurting peoples feelings.
6. Changed Man
Tracy says his party days are behind him. He hasn’t partaken in alcohol or anything for more than a decade.
7. Still Raw
The backlash he got over a joke insinuating that he’d lose it if his son was gay hasn’t affected the way he monitors his material.
8. Paper Chase
Though Damon Waynes said he got around $90 million in his settlement with Walmart, Tracy says that’s not true. He says no one knows what he got except his wife, lawyer, and business manager.
9. Politics As Usual
He hasn’t been keeping up with the Presidential race because “Politics is a pile of tricks.” Last time he voted it was for David Dinkins.
10. Reaching For The Star
The one thing he always wanted to do since getting in the game was getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
