Even after he roughed up a few of Cottonmouth’s goons at the Wu restaurant, Luke Cage is still trying to keep a low profile for the most part.
Chico is still M.I.A. with enough of Cottonmouth’s paper to buy a plane and Mariah Dillard is on Cotton’s ass to get that money back so she can replace the loot she stole to support Cotton’s club. But you know it’s only a matter of time before Luke has to get involved to make sure Chico doesn’t get his head mushed in like Shakeem.
With their freedom on the line, Cotton and Mariah will stop at nothing to find Chico and with a $20,000 bounty on his head, Chico is starting to look like sweet bread to the wolves on the street.
Can Luke Cage find Chico before Cotton and his crew do?
Here’s the recap to Episode 2: Code Of The Streets (catch Ep. 1 if you missed it).

1. Chico’s Stuck
The stickup turned homicide got Chico in hiding and feeling mighty scared and shook cause ain’t no such things as half-way crooks. He’s running around with a half-a-mil but the money ain’t quiet and the streets is talking. Aside from having Cottonmouth hot on his ass, Detective Missy is also looking to have a word with the young whippersnapper in regards to the Diamondback heist. He’s not even aware that jake got their eye out for him but has no intention on stepping into the sun or nightlight regardless.
2. OG Pop
After getting a visit from Cottonmouth – and blessing him with a shape-up – Pop reveals to Luke that he used to run the streets with Fredo “the craziest Puerto Rican in Black Harlem” he knew and a kid missing three front teeth who Fredo nicknamed “Cottonmouth.” Yup, Pops and Cottonmouth have some serious history together. While their history is clear and present, Luke’s history with Cottonmouth’s man, Shades, is still a mystery and Cage seems to walk around hoping that Shades doesn’t recognize him.
3. Detective Misty
The “auditor”’s cover is blown when Detective Misty Knight visits Pop’s barbershop looking for Chico and runs into Luke Cage. Though to the average cat on the street this would seem like a drawback, any average man would welcome a woman as fine as Misty Knight having such an commendable profession. Luke though seems more bothered by the fact that she fronted on the truth, as well he should be. Don’t lie to a man right after the loving done climaxed, girl!
4. Now You’re Mine
Dimes were dropped and so were bullets. At the behest of Luke, Chico returned to the barbershop to hide out and try to work something out with Cottonmouth. His money in exchange for Chico’s life. But before Pop could broker the deal, Cottonmouth’s right hand man, Tone, got wind of Chico’s whereabouts and along with Shades proceeded to Swiss cheese up the barbershop. Chico got got out there, but so did Pop. Luke played dead for obvious reasons (revenge!), and Tone got the money.
5. Executive Decision
Cottonmouth wasn’t too thrilled with Tone’s “executive decision” to light up the barbershop and send a message but was willing to let it go so long as Pop would forgive the action and take some money to rebuild. But things went south (literally) when Cottonmouth learned that Tone’s overzealousness led to Pop becoming a “casualty of war.” Upon hearing his former running mate caught a bad one, Cottonmouth gave Tone the Nutso in Above The Rim treatment and flung him off the roof. Money learned that in the street game sometimes being ambitious could lead to your downfall. Literally.
6. The Letter “N”
Just because Luke Cage is ‘bout it in these streets doesn’t mean he advocates the use of the “N” word. After a youngster pulls a burner on him and calls him “Ni**a,” Luke gives a heartfelt speech about the word, proved to little man that he ain’t have the heart to pull the trigger, and took the toast and turned it on himself to show just how hardcore he is. Luke Cage that dude for real, G. No wonder white folk are mad they ain’t a part of his world.
