Kelly Rowland is on a rare wave. She discusses being a new mother, a new show and more on The Breakfast Club.
As a member of Destiny’s Child, Kelly is looking to pay her blessings forward with her new girl group search show on BET Chasing Destiny.
DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God got Rowland to discuss Beyonce, the culture of girl groups, Empire and more.

1. Chasing Destiny
Out of all the networks Kelly pitched her show to, BET was the only one that really believed in the concept.
2. Artist Development
Kelly is really trying to groom the group to be selected. She thinks the internet has killed a lot of the A&R process and wants to showcase an element of that on the show.
3. Looks
Kelly admits that looks do play a part in the star making process. The show will be looking at all sizes from curvy to thin.
4. Group
Nothing about the group was predetermined including their name and number of members.
5. Rejection
While Kelly enjoyed the entire show process it was tough for her turn away and reject talent.
6. Titan
Her son Titan was so light, when he was born her husband jokingly questioned if he was his.
7. Growing Pains
Destiny’s Child’s budget wasn’t always husky. During their first European tour they flew coach and did their own makeup.
9. Beyonce
There is no reunion album in the works but Kelly did say she is excited for Beyonce which was a hint toward a rumored album that is in the works.
10. Empire
Kelly actually got the role in Empire when she met Lee at SoulCycle and they clicked from there.
