1. On The Side
When he met Pebbles she was married. But that did not stop them from dating so in essence he was the side dude until she got divorced.
2. Rihanna
L.A. Reid believed Teairra Marie would be a bigger artist than Rihanna when he was running Island Def Jam.
3. TLC
He has yet to watch the TLC biopic movie. The film depicts Pebbles, his child’s mother, in a negative light.
4. Helping The Culture
Even though Rick Ross might be on a downslide in terms of his career, Reid has taken on the responsibility of having a home for Black artists.
5. Babyface
L.A. Reid and Babyface fell out due to the women they were both dating at the time. It got to the point where Babyface could only call him privately from a car in fear of his woman.
6. Def Jam
Admittedly Reid was not engulfed in Rap as much as he needed to be to run Def Jam Records. So he hired Jay Z to give the label credibility.
7. Michael Jackson
In his book L.A. Reid mentions that Michael Jackson used to make fun of Prince; specifically for the mess of a movie Under The Cherry Moon was.
8. Future
He loves Future as an artist but he wishes he would slow down just a tad with releasing so much music that he might burn himself out prematurely.
9. Jeezy
When he signed Jeezy, he gave him a million dollar check. Jeez did not cash the check until a year later.
10. Bobby Shmurda
Bobby Shmurda was not bailed out as it was not L.A. Reid’s decision. The money is really Sony Music’s and the company wasn’t willing to take that risk on the Brooklyn rapper.
