It’s been a long time in the making, but after a few setbacks namely the back-to-back-to-back departures of directors Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) John Singleton (Boyz N The Hood), and Carl Franklin (Devil In A Blue Dress), the film based on the life of Tupac Shakur is finally gaining traction with it’s new director Benny Boom (Next Day Air) at the helm of the film aptly titled All Eyez On Me.
With the releases of Hip-Hop biopics such as 8 Mile, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Notorious, and more recently Straight Outta Compton, it seems only right that the legendary artist is the next Hip-Hop icon to have his story told.
Now that the director is in place, casting has begun and HipHopWired has compiled a list of who’s been chosen thus far to play the roles of your favorite rapper, and the people who influenced his life.
See who’s who on the following pages.

Jamal Woolard as the Notorious B.I.G.
It’s all gravy. It makes perfect sense that the filmmakers decided to bring back the man who many felt was simply unbelievable as the King of New York in Notorious.
Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur
The Walking Dead fan favorite finally gets her well-deserved shot at the big screen as the woman to whom Tupac dedicated his classic ode, “Dear Mama.”

The Vampire Diaries actress also makes her jump from the small screen to the silver screen as Tupac’s homegirl during his days in Baltimore and the object of Aunt Viv’s salt pellets, Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Grace Gibson as Faith Evans
Though Antonique Smith did a decent job as the First Lady of Bad Boy in Notorious, the role of Biggie’s wife has been handed over to the singer/actress Grace Gibson for All Eyez On Me.
Lauren Cohan as Leila Steinberg
Another Walking Dead star joins the biopic as an adolescent Tupac’s writing workshop mentor.

Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac Shakur
Everyone thought that actor who played Pac (Marcc Rose) in Straight Outta Compton would get the honors, but the studio decided that Shipp Jr. was better suited for the job as the famous rapper.
