The Oscar nomination were announced this morning, and the lack of diversity would be astonishing, if it wasn’t the Academy Awards. Thus, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite is trending, again, to document the slight and slander the f*ckery.
The white screenwriters of Straight Outta Compton were nominated, though. Also, Sylvester Stallone got a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Creed, which was directed by a Black guy. Maybe Sly will actually thank Ryan Coogler during his acceptance speech if he wins, unlike at the Golden Globes.
April S. Reign created the hashtag last year, and she noted it’s worse this year.
