On August 22, the Chicago Footaction Flagship Store implemented itself on 26-28 State Street to give a city already renown for its keen fashion sense a major boost. Whether you’re a citizen or tourist, a view of the Chicago skyline while purchasing kicks couldn’t heighten the experience that much better.
All of today’s top brands such as Nike, Air Jordan, adidas, Puma, Fairplay, American Stitch, Popular Demand, New Era, Timberland and more were made instantly available to consumers fingertips and given the nature of the threads on hand, it only made sense to nab a Hip-Hop star to signify the ribbon cutting ceremony.
On the opening Saturday, Pusha T took a break from recording his long-delayed sophomore album to scoop in to grab some gear, pose for pictures and sign autographs and sneakers. Local Chi-Town artists Saba, Martin Sky, and Bop King Kemo also paid the new Chicago Footaction a visit, as did WPWX 92.3Chicago’s DJ Shaggy, who broadcasted live from the store all day. Sunday was just as festive as Twista, GLC and Katie Got Bandz all put on for their hometown by making in-store appearances.
“We are proud to have opened our largest retail location to date in such a great city as Chicago,” said Ken Side, vice president, general manager for Footaction. “Our team is looking forward to being a part of the community, offering first-class service and bringing the best assortment of lifestyle and athletic brands to style-conscious Chicagoans.”
