It’s unfortunate that it feels that the Hip-Hop community is only on the same accord when someone passes away but unity in death is better than no unity at all.
The Bay Area’s beloved mainstay Dominic Newton, b.k.a. The Jacka was murdered yesterday, February 2 in East Oakland. Details still haven’t been ironed out but here’s the report from CBS San Francisco.
KPIX 5 Reporter Christin Ayers confirmed that the shooting victim was 37-year-old Dominic Newton, a rapper who went by the stage name “The Jacka.”
Witnesses said they heard several shots fired around 8:15 p.m. on MacArthur Boulevard by 94th Avenue.
So far, no suspects have been identified.
The state of shock caused from The Jacka’s murder sent ripples throughout the Hip-Hop community and the various reactions showed just how much he meant to the game. Especially for a proud, hardworking independent artist.
