News of any political announcement is inevitably going to divide opinions but Loretta Lynch’s nomination for Attorney General has spawned the ugly truth that racism is still thriving in the United States.
This past weekend, Attorney General Eric Holder–who had previously stated he would have a hand in picking his successor–backed President Obama’s nomination of the 55-year-old New York lawyer. By being appointed, she would become the first Black woman to ever hold the position. Her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School predates her current position as he current United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, but there were are several voters out there who only saw color.
And they let it be known with plenty of racist hate mail, much cooked up by Fox News’ coverage of the nomination.
