G-Unit visited Power 105.1’s headquarters to chop it up with Angie Martinez and the result was pretty entertaining interview.

The “new starting five”–50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, and Kidd Kidd–were all present and engaged during the half hour-long discussion. Topics ranged from 50 Cent’s reasoning for challenging Floyd Mayweather to read to the clique’s new EP, The Beauty Of Independence, and more.

Hit the jump to read seven things that we learned from G-Unit’s convo with Martinez. Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Method To The Madness

50 Cent didn’t appreciate Floyd Mayweather calling him a washed up rapper, and he in turned sparked the reading controversy that took a turn for the worse when audio turned up. “I know so much that you should never play with me,” the Queens rapper said about the boxer.

… But There’s Limits

50 Cent, who views Floyd Mayweather like pestering younger brother, says the boxer crossed the lined when he mentioned his son  in rebuttal to the rapper’s reading challenge. Fif even mentioned the controversy involving comments made about Blue Ivy Carter on BET’s 106th & Park.

Buck Is Persistent

The Nashville native is very keen on Ms. Martinez and had no shame in openly showing his admiration for her.

Some Type Of Way?

When Martinez brought up Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Ni**a,” Banks (the Jahlil Beats-produced record was originally his) didn’t have much to say about it. Does he feel some type of way?

Ahhh Sh*t!

“I just felt like… let me speak from the perspective of a person who’s going through it,” Young Buck said of G-Unit’s lyrical tribute to slain teenager, Michael Brown. Buck cited the purpose of positive songs like “We Are The World,” but his goal was to represent the other side. Job well done.

Family Reunions

50 Cent says that groups like The Diplomats and The LOX have to be watching what G-Unit is doing from afar. From there, the convo segued into a “what if” scenario, regarding a tour featuring the three aforementioned cliques. Can someone please make that happen?

Retirement?

“I wanna work with artists, but stay behind the scenes,” 50 said of his end goal. With his Starz! series, Power, getting major traction and prepping for a second season, his plans aren’t surprising. But does a rapper ever really retire?
