Members of the Hip-Hop community and law enforcement on any level have always shared a toxic relationship. Given the nature of content of what the music is built upon, it shouldn’t be expected to be any other way.
When rappers glorify their drug usage in rhyme, the DEA is on cue to bust them where they smoke. Guns are more prevalent than use of the word “the” in rap songs and every other day, there is a rapper who finds themselves in a pinch with a weapons charge. Opponents of the Hip-Hop culture would say the artists put themselves in this position while some would argue that they are targets of profiling.
But since rappers are supposed to be alleged criminals or otherwise, militant rebels of society, there have been several instances where they fought back, whether it was right or wrong.
Since Ray J obviously isn’t too Hollywood to strike back at officers who jam him up, we at Hip-Hop Wired are doing some profiling of our own and looking at 15 rappers fighting police, obstructing the justice or getting back at the man.
Some made it out without a scratch, while others, well…just continue on through the gallery to see for yourselves.

The Game
Jayceon has always been a thorn in law enforcement’s side, whether he was impersonating a cop or prank calling their hotlines. Earlier this year though, things got testy outside a Los Angeles niteclub when he and another famous rapper engaged in a standoff with the LAPD…

…which happened to be Clifford Harris. Apparently one of their buddies had been stomped out and their was game time decision to be made whether or not the bugle should have been sounded for battle. The situation dispersed peacefully, though.

Meek Mill
The MMG lieutenant will let anyone in earshot know that police don’t frighten him one bit. As far as his win-losses tally however, he may want to pick his battles more wisely. He recently lost a lawsuit against the Philadelphia police department and is currently serving time for violating probation.

Capo caught a high-profile charge in all places of Connecticut after he was involved in a wild melee at casino and fought off cops who tried to subdue him.

The Almighty Sosa is lucky to be alive (and free) after an encounter with cops with bad aim. In 2011, Chicago officers fired back at the then budding rapper when he allegedly pointed a firearm at them first.

Jeezy
Alpharetta police learned the hard way that you can’t talk civil to a Snowman in heat. The superstar rapper allegedly cursed out cops who were trying to diffuse a situation between him and his girlfriend in January of this year.

Sonic The Strugglehog’s mental illness has been well documented but his apex was arguably reached when he was arrested in 2010 for assaulting two Cleveland police officers.

Ice-T
Despite portraying a cop in film and television for more than three decades, Ice-T still has been a public enemy for cops nationwide, due to the popularity of his 1992 song “Cop Killer.” And he’s still performing it to this day.

Tity 2 Necklaces felt he was a target of the Hip-Hop cops when Oklahoma authorities came up empty during a summer 2013 bus raid. They later charged him with obstruction of justice for refusing to cooperate.

Treach
The Naughty By Nature frontman was busted for speeding and reckless driving in his Jersey hood in 2011. Instead of pulling over peacefully, he led cops on a 10-block chase and was reportedly “irate and belligerent” when cops had to draw their guns to get him to stop.

Juvenile
The former Cash Money star was so turnt up following a 2012 Miami comedy brawl that he shook an officer like an uncontrollable baby mama, demanding he be taken to jail. He beat any serious time, however.

King Tut
Everyone who goes bold against the boys in blue doesn’t always live to rap about it. Dipset affiliate King Tut killed himself in 2009 as officers begin to surround the taxi he was riding in. He was wanted on suspicion of stabbing his girlfriend seven times.

MC Hammer
The veteran rap personality was so livid following a 2013 arrest that he took to his Twitter to call the officer a “donut-eating, mall cop.”

Suge Knight
Saying the former Death Row Records mogul’s name alone causes tension amongst law enforcement. In late 2013, LAPD officers felt compelled to draw their weapons when they assumed he was their guy. He wasn’t.

Tupac
It should come as no surprise that the most infamous case of rappers vs. police came at the hands of the immortal Tupac Shakur. In 1993, Pac shot two off-duty officers who failed to properly identify themselves during a verbal altercation. It doesn’t get anymore gangsta than this.
