Rappers are a bit of a fighting bunch. In a world where “beef” is as integral to the culture as bars, where many of the “rap crews”—albeit not necessarily the rappers themselves—who grew up in “the streets.” It only makes sense that some fights would spill over from the mic into the “real world.”
Some fights are scary, some fights are mismatched, and some fights are downright hilarious.
Inspired by Tyler, the Creator’s fight with blonde bombshell Iggy Azalea, we’ve compiled our list of the top 10 rap fights caught on camera. Pass the popcorn…

10. Erica Mena Cold-Cocks Rich Dollaz’s Jumpoff on Love & Hip Hop
Summary: Technically, this counts, because this appeared on a show with “Hip Hop” in the title. In any event, Erica Mena isn’t the first girl to beat the brakes off of Rich Dollaz’s jumpoff, “Tiffy Lew” (a/k/a Tiffany Lewis), but she did it with such New York flair & attitude that her ass-kicking is the only one that matters. Erica threw the sole punch in the fight, and she made it count — peep the end, where the dirty bird’s nose is leaking like her other body parts (allegedly, according to Mena) do.
Winner: Erica Mena. “Tiffy Lew” lost the fight before it even began — she considers being a “jumpoff” of a Z-grade “manager” an accomplishment. Her subsequent failure as a “model” (read: groupie posing near-naked with her butt in the air) only adds insult to injury (pun intended). But don’t fret, Tiffy Lew — UPS is always hiring.
9. Joe Budden Blesses Consequence With The Fade
Summary: This Love & Hip Hop fight took place between two rappers, this time. Whatever started the beef between Cons & Budden, Budden finished it with a jaw-popping punch just outside of the reunion show. Dang!
Winner: Joe Budden. Consequence lost the fight the second Jen The Pen started squawking like a headless chicken (“I’m calling the cops on you!”), and his contract with “Love & Hip-Hop” wasn’t renewed.
8. Lil’B Gets TKO’ed by Lil’Niko
Summary: This started out normally (Lil’Niko was interviewing Lil’B) when, suddenly, Lil’Niko snapped and started punching Lil’B…apparently for no reason at all.
Winner: Lil’B. First, because he’s the Based God. Second, and most importantly, it’s not a fight if someone punches someone else, unprovoked: it’s an assault, and it’s sucker-style.
7. Waka Flocka “Flames” Lil’Capp
Summary: The Piru blood gang ain’t nothing to play with: during a show that the Brick Squad general put on in Montgomery, Alabama, a group of the ill-reputed gang members let former Brick Squad artist Lil’Capp know that they were there on behalf of the “Rooster in my Rari” rapper. Waka and Capp had been beefing for a while now, thanks to the latter suing the former for the royalties from the hit song, “O Let Do It,” but on this night, Waka took the feud to a whole new level.
Winner: It’s a draw. On one hand, disloyalty is definitely an offense punishable by this sort of beatdown (Author’s Note: I’m Sicilian; we invented the word vendetta…), and Capp is nothing if not disloyal. On the other hand, this doesn’t help Waka’s case in any court of law — not to mention, at well over 6 feet and well over 300 lbs., a fight against Waka is an unfair fight unless you’re Andre the Giant.
6. will.i.am Gives A Boom-Boom-Pow to Perez Hilton
Summary: Let this video be a lesson to you — don’t run your mouth and expect that everyone’s just going to let it ride. At this point in Perez Hilton’s career, he had a habit of acting like a salty queen (he has since, reportedly, become more “enlightened”), and he popped off about Fergie, will.i.am’s bandmate in the Black Eyed Peas. will.i.am took to defending his bandmates honor and gave a one-two punch to Perez, giving him a black eye in the process.
Winner: will.i.am. Again, don’t start nothing, and there won’t be nothing. What does it say about a man when he has nothing better to do than pick on a girl? Sorry, Perez, you deserve to take this L.
5. Kanye West Becomes A “Monster” To A Cameraman
Summary: Photographer tries to take photo of Kanye West and his manager, Don C, at the Los Angeles International Airport. Yeezy & C refuse. Cameraman takes photo anyway. Kanye and Don C give the cameraman a beatdown.
Winner: Cameraman — he got Kanye arrested & held on $20,000 bail. Pick your fights, Kanye. Pick your fights.
4. Tony Yayo Delivers Beatdown To Gunplay
Summary: The G-Unit & MMG camps have been beefing for more than a hot minute, but it all came to a head when the two camps clashed at the BET Hip-Hop Awards in 2012. Camera crews were everywhere as G-Unit general Tony Yayo beat the sweet buttered baby Jesus out of the little-known MMG rapper.
Winner: Tony Yayo. Not only did Gunplay go down and stay down, members of the G-Unit camp — including 50 Cent & his elder son, Marquis — were seen rocking the MMG chain Yayo snatched off of Gunplay during the fight…the ultimate disrespect.
3. Lil’Reese Disgraces Chicago By Beating Up His Baby Mama
Summary: Playing into every stereotype that exists about black people in the hood, GBE rapper & Chief Keef’s right-hand man Lil’Reese took his fight with his baby mama WAY too far.
Winner: No one. This is just beyond disgusting. The only way this could have a “winner” is if Reese’s baby mama has a bunch of male uncles and/or cousins that could exact hard-core revenge on this punk waste of space.
2. The Game and 40 Glocc Turn Hip-Hop Into the WWE
Summary: West Coast rappers & former (current?) gang members The Game & 40 Glocc have been going at it for some time, and they took their hate for each other to a whole new level when, after a “chance” meeting in Los Angeles, The Game whipped out his iPhone & started filming the duo going at it.
Winner: Neither. This “beef” doesn’t benefit either of their careers, and the “fight” looks like a Bugs Bunny slapstick fest. Also, one can’t help but feel like these two guys are trolling all of Hip Hop, and are secretly the best of friends who came up with this “long standing feud” idea during a tea party/book club meeting at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Malibu to keep us entertained.
1. 50 Cent & Trav Go At It Onstage
Summary: At this point in the game, everyone knows that 50 Cent loves to beef. Beef, in fact, is what made his entire career. And during a Core DJs mixshow in Atlanta late last year, 50 kept up with his fine tradition of beefing when he took it up with former associate/Hip Hop moupie (male+groupie=moupie) Trav after he made some disparaging remarks on Twitter about 50’s sometime girlfriend, Tatted Up Holly.
Winner: As much as we hate to admit it, Trav. First of all, male groupies-turned-wannabe rappers shouldn’t even be addressed, let alone beefed with — a rapper of 50’s status brings himself down to the lowest common denominator by even farting in Trav’s general direction. This beef only raised Trav’s profile — it didn’t do anything beneficial for 50 in terms of a career move. Second, Trav insulted Holly on Twitter, through a series of sub-Tweets, like a teenage girl getting her first period — he didn’t address Holly in person, or mention Holly directly. If Trav’s little Twitter fit didn’t faze Holly (and it didn’t), why should (or would) it faze Curtis? Third, they aren’t really “fighting” — no fists were thrown; not even a shove from either party — 50 is popping his finger, & Trav is popping his neck. It’s sort of what it would look like if your new wifey & your crazy hoodrat baby mama met in person…not a good look for a couple of street dudes. Finally, any time Meek Mill is the voice of reason in a fight, you know things don’t look good for you.
