“Tweeting Through It” has become an art form onto itself. These days, it’s not just your hoodrat baby mama that gets all up in her feelings and lets it all out on Twitter, your favorite rappers have also been known to express their emotions in 140 characters or less.
Whether it’s Kanye West going at a late night talk show host (done for publicity), or it’s a certain West Coast rapper complaining about which rappers he could knock out (during the BET Awards, no less), or it’s Roscoe Dash complaining about not getting credit (he’s right), Hip-Hop’s finest have their Tweet-tastic moments, just like the rest of us.
For example: Meek Mill’s recent rant about racism, Donald Sterling, and society as a whole. You’d love nothing better than to take the rant seriously…but you can’t help but read it and hear HIS voice as you read it, which makes it unintentionally hilarious.
Here, then, is our list of the 15 greatest, most hilarious, most notable Twitter rants by your favorite rappers…and ours!

15. Kanye West vs. Jimmy Kimmel
Kanye West is a whole different breed of crazy ever since he got with Kim Kardashian…but when he goes in, HE GOES ALL THE WAY IN. During a “feud” with late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, West ranted about everything that Kimmel ever stood for — his romance with Sarah Silverman, his “bro-mance” with Ben Affleck, even his sex life. At one point, Kimmel was even compared to Spongebob Squarepants! Of course, this rant lost all its humor when it was revealed that it was all a publicity stunt for West’s upcoming appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, allegedly.
14. Roscoe Dash vs. Kanye West, Wale, Miguel, & Meek Mill
To be fair to Roscoe, he was behind some of the greatest rap songs of recent memory…and it’s only right that an artist gets credit for his hard work. However, there’s a way to make friends and influence people…and ranting on Twitter isn’t one of them.
13. Azealia Banks vs. Rita Ora
Meow! The claws came out when Azealia Banks came for Rita Ora’s bleached-blonde weave. During her rant, she claimed that Rita was “thirsty,” begging for pictures with Azealia’s back-up dancers, and claiming that she was trying to “intimidate” Banks by taking candids when she wasn’t looking. (*insert eye roll here*)
12. Chet Haze vs. Nerds
It’s very hard to be taken seriously as a “street thug” rapper when you’re a white boy raised in Hollywood privilege by none other than Forrest Gump. But that’s exactly what Chet Haze (born Chester Hanks — seriously, in terms of names, how much more milquetoast can you get?) expects all of us to do. Having had enough of the ribbing received by everyone and their mother, Chet took to Twitter to rail against nerds, whom he said were the biggest “haters” of his rap dream. (Hey, you gotta tell yourself whatever you can to get through it, Chester…)
11. Jay Electronica vs. Cops, Thugs
It’s been four years since Jay Electronica was signed to Roc Nation, and one of these days, we’re actually going to see an album from him. Until that day comes, however, we can sit back and enjoy the crazy that is/are his Twitter rants. In one of his best ones, he goes in on crooked cops & thugs (which, arguably, are one in the same thing).
10. J. Cole vs. Critics
This one was definitely one for the books: when former Hip-Hop darling J. Cole dropped his second album, Born Sinner, and the sales didn’t meet projections, he took to “Da Bird” (as no one on Twitter calls it…though it would be so cool if they did) to rail against “critics” and “everyone else f–king up Hip-Hop.” (Wasn’t him f–king up Hip-Hop though…never that…)
9. The-Dream vs. His Fans
Most people would be happy to have made the money they made, when they made it, in an industry that’s notoriously difficult to make money in…but not Terius Nash, a/k/a The-Dream. When his last album didn’t do so well on the charts, he took to Twitter to rant about his fans…y’know, the very same people that were to buy his album in the first place, because nothing says, “hey, buy my album,” like pissing off the very people that you want to support you.
8. Chris Brown vs. His Neighbors
We can all agree on one thing: Chris Brown has more issues than Harper’s Bazaar. When it comes to the art of ranting in 140 characters or less, Chris Brown is Picasso, Matisse, van Gogh, and da Vinci all rolled into one. In this classic rant, Chris Brown complains that his neighbors can’t appreciate the fine art of his graffiti spray-painted on the side of his house.
7. M.I.A. vs. Her Baby Daddy
Custody battles are never easy or fun, but when “Paper Planes” sort of rapper M.I.A. got involved in a custody dispute with her ex, Warner Music Group scion Benjamin Bronfman, she took it to both the actual courts AND the court of public opinion.
6. Cassie vs. Diddy’s Fans
One of the worst-kept secrets in the industry is that Cassie & Diddy are smanging…and after years of Cassie playing in the background of her more famous boss, the “Me & You” singer/rapper got on Twitter & railed against her boo’s fans…and in the process, confessed what everyone knew all along.
5. Keyshia Cole vs. Her Hometown Radio Station
Keyshia Cole is the Queen of Struggle, and her Twitter diatribes are no different in their quests for relevance. In this classic, she takes up against her hometown radio station for asking her to open up for The Weeknd…when she should be happy she got a job offer in the first place. Ungrateful, I tell you…
4. Bow Wow vs. Himself
Before he was gainfully employed on BET’s 106 & Park, Bow Wow wasn’t doing much except Tweeting Through Hip-Hop. As an end result, he found himself waxing existential more often than not…and the results, as shown in this 2011 rant, were unintentionally hilarious.
3. Lil’ Webbie vs. Terrence J
How dare Terrence J tweet a wish of a blessed day to his followers? Apparently, that was all he had to do to get the Louisiana rapper to go on a Twitter — AND YouTube — rant against him. Triiiiillll…
2. The Game
A word to the wise: never, ever, deliver The Game’s pizza late. During the BET Hip-Hop Awards this past year, Game ordered a pizza to be delivered to his home. When the delicious pie didn’t arrive on time, The Game took to Twitter to rant, not about the late dinner, but about which rappers he could “knock out”…all during the BET Cypher, no less.
1. Gucci Mane
Cryin’ won’t help you, and prayin’ won’t do you no good, because when the levee of crazy breaks, mama, you’ve got to move. Such is how it was when Gucci Mane went on his epic rant, where he claimed credit for everything from forming Brick Squad to smashing Nicki Minaj & Blacc Chyna. There were so many classic moments in Gucci’s rant, but below are some of the highlights.
