In fairness, many of the rappers on this list are in “legal trouble” due to baby mama drama. (*slow clap*)
Still, even one day in court is one day too many — besides, with all of the options available to both men & women in 2014 (involving both birth control & settling down with a “regular” person), it’s impossible to reconcile the mindset of a rapper who would place himself in ANY legal brouhaha over a money-hungry, fame-thirsty, hoodrat groupie baby mama type.
Here, then, is our list of rappers who had to deal with The Man thanks to a woman…

15. Kevin McCall
This sometime rapper stays doing the most for Twitter, Vine, & Instagram, but he also stays doing it for the courts: his baby mama, former America’s Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille, has not only sued him for child support, she recently slapped him with a restraining order because he threatened to kill her & their two-month-old daughter. Classy.
14. Chief Keef/GBE
The members of Glory Boyz Entertainment (the snark writes itself) have had brushes with the law in one way or another — but of them all, only two members have been in trouble thanks to women. GBE capo Chief Keef has been in and out of court over baby mama drama, and Lil’Reese found himself in a world of legal drama when he — like a coward — beat a girl mercilessly & recorded it for the world to see.
13. Stalley
The Maybach Music Group dark horse may be of the Muslim faith, but being a member of a peace-loving religion doesn’t exclude you from legal drama…as he found out the hard way, when his messy baby mama dragged him in and out of both the legal courts and the courts of public opinion.
12. Layzie Bone
The very-married Bone Thugs-n-Harmony rapper was caught out there not long ago when a woman who was NOT his wife filed a paternity suit against him. The child, who was a year old at the time the woman filed the suit, was legally declared the spawn of the “Crossroads” rapper when he failed to respond to the suit in time. Whoops!
11. DMX
Earl, Earl, Earl…we want to root for you, man, but you make it SO hard for us to do so. DMX is no stranger to legal issues, and WAY too many of them are as a result of the women he deals with. Amongst the problems: in the late 1990’s, he was charged with rape & sodomy, sexual abuse, & unlawful imprisonment; that same year, he & his wife at the time were charged with a whole host of felonies when his uncle/manager was shot in a NJ hotel.
10. 50 Cent
The G-Unit capo said that being shot 9 times was painful…but we’re sure nothing could be more painful than having not one, but two, baby mamas drag you in and out of family court for a laundry list of reasons. His most recent baby mama, Daphne Joy, filed charges of assault against him (he copped a plea in that case). Meanwhile, his first baby mama, Shaniqua Tompkins, has been dragging him in and out of court for decades: first she claimed that he burned down her house, then she sued for child support, then she took to Twitter to claim that he hasn’t seen their son in nearly two years! G-g-g-g-g-UNIT!
9. Flo Rida
You have to be a special breed of groupie trash to force a man to pay for a child that both you, and the courts, know isn’t his. But that’s exactly what happened to rapper Flo Rida: Gloria Holloway’s child is currently being paid for by Tramar Dillard, even though he’s taken a paternity test & proved that the child wasn’t his. This case, however, took place in Florida, where justice is backwards (to say the least), & the court ruled that the “Right Round” rapper was responsible for Holloway’s child anyway. Nice.
8. The Game
Apparently needing someone to beat up when his boxing match against Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, fell through, The Game is currently going through a series of legal issues stemming from his assault on his now-ex-fiancee, Tiffney Cambridge. The “Married to the Game” star — who has two children with Cambridge — allegedly broke her nose & her eye socket, and even injured his kids during the melee.
7. Nas
Nas may have some of the most “Illmatic” rhymes of all time, but he really needs to use a LOT more discretion when choosing his baby mamas. Amazingly, it wasn’t his messy first baby mama, Carmen Bryant, that got him into legal trouble — it was his “Earthy” second baby mama/ex-wife, Kelis! When the no-longer-happy couple got divorced, the rapper-turned-hot-sauce entrepreneur dragged Nasir Jones into court to demand ungodly amounts of money in child support, and when he refused to comply, she demanded that he be held in contempt.
6. Drake
Thankfully, Wheelchair Jimmy doesn’t have any ratchet baby mama drama to deal with. (Yet.) His legal troubles came as a result of his ex-girlfriend, Ericka Lee, suing him for not paying what she feels she was owed as a result of her contributions to the hit song, “Marvin’s Room.” The “Best I Ever Had” crooner settled with Lee out of court.
5. 2 Chainz
Be careful who you call outside their name…that’s a lesson rapper 2 Chainz learned the hard way when he clowned a fan, Luvtinaa, on camera, calling her a “THOT” (short for “That Hoe Over There”) and hash-tagging #isthisyouthot through the video. Luvtinaa was not impressed, to say the least, and after her Instagram was slammed with embarrassing comments, she filed a suit against the “Feds Watching” rapper. While some rumors suggest that she settled the case for a few hundred stacks, Luvtinaa insisted that she’s actively pursuing a case against the artist formerly known as Tity Boy.
4. Eminem
Marshall Mathers is, arguably, one of the greatest rhyme-spitters of this generation, but he’s not without his fair share of issues. His first bout of legal issues came in 1999, when his mother, Debbie, sued him for $10 million in damages that she claimed came as a result of the slander on The Slim Shady EP. (She was eventually awarded $1600 for her trouble. BURN!) In 2000, he was arrested for assaulting a bouncer that kissed his on-again-off-again wife, Kim. That same year, the once-and-future Mrs. Mathers sued him for defamation as a result of the song, “Kim.” Finally, in 2005, his aunt Betty Schmidt sued him because he tried to evict her & her husband from the house he owned.
3. Ludacris
The Disturbing Tha Peace rapper-turned-actor — real name: Chris Bridges — is currently reeling from the legal issues brought by his second baby mama, former stripper Tamika Fuller. Besides having to pay $35,000 in legal fees, Luda will also have to pay Fuller’s retainer fees, as well as an additional $2,000 for a failed motion of contempt against Fuller. (The next time you want to bang a stripper, Luda, do yourself a favor…and DON’T.)
2. Dr. Dre
He may be likable now thanks to Beats by Dre (& that damn Dr. Pepper commercial), but it wasn’t too long ago that Forbes’ second-richest rapper in the world was known strictly for his “gangsta” rap thanks to his affiliation with NWA & Death Row Records. And he lived up to his name when, in 1991, he encountered rapper & TV host Dee Barnes at a party. The Doctor, apparently feeling that Barnes wronged NWA for an interview with Ice Cube that was perceived as “negative” by the group, “began slamming her face and the right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway,” according to the lawsuit. Though Barnes sued Dre for $22.75 million, Dre pled it down to a fine, community service, and an anti-violence PSA.
1. Tupac
He’s a legend whose life was cut way too short by a hail of gunfire, and his untimely passing has canonized him in some ways. But Lesane Parish Crooks — later reborn as Tupac Amaru Shakur — also had a few run-ins with the law thanks to some unscrupulous dealings with women, and it’s the incident that occurred in November 1993 that, ultimately, was one of the major contributing factors to his untimely death: after he was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in his hotel room (Shakur claimed the sex was consensual), he was convicted & sentenced to 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years in prison. After serving 11 months of the sentence, Death Row head honcho Suge Knight bailed him out (in exchange for Shakur to release 3 albums on Death Row). Many in the hip-hop world believe that it was this debt to Suge Knight that ultimately placed the rapper in harm’s way, and were it not for Shakur’s indentured servitude to Knight, Shakur would be alive today. We’ll never know for sure.
