In light of Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson and his anti-gay statements, it wouldn’t mark the first time a popular celebrity expressed a similar view. In fact, Robertson’s ill-timed comments places him in a varied group of public figures and entertainers who put their foots squarely in their mouths.

Robertson’s GQ interview, in where he both said Blacks were fine with living under Jim Crow laws and saying homosexuality is a sin, definitely turned heads. Potentially messing up his money, the bearded Bible-thumper is going to need a lot of forgiveness from the people on this one.

This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone, but Trump actually criticized gay marriage by comparing it to a golf game last year. It’s as strange as it sounds.

Paris Hilton

 

Paris Hilton, who keeps getting 15 minutes of fame reboots, was caught on tape last year in New York saying that gays are “the horniest people on earth” and that most of them “probably have AIDS.” She apologized a day later the scandal blew open.

Eminem

Slim Shady has famously spit anti-gay lyrics in his songs, although he claims he’s not homophobic.

Lord Jamar

 

The Brand Nubian mainstay aimed some sharp barbs at gays, but also claims not to be homophobic. He even dissed Kanye West and accused him of being gay.

The lauded Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon had criticisms of gay marriage and compared homosexuality to bestiality earlier this year. He has since apologized for his statement.

Kirk Cameron

 

The former Growing Pains child star became a conservative Christian advocate as an adult, and has made several public statements against gay marriage and the lifestyle.

50 Cent

Fif got himself in trouble after tweeting “Perez Hilton calld me douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better.” The Queens rapper didn’t apologize for the quip.

Isiah Washington

 

The Grey’s Anatomy actor reportedly called co-star T.R. Knight a homophobic slur, thus leading to his ouster off the popular show in 2007. Acting sparingly since, Washington returns to the small screen in drama The 100 next year.

Chris Brown

Chris Brown went completely bonkers on Raz B, who made a Rihanna remark which set Breezy off. Several unprintable tweets later, Brown claimed he wasn’t homophobic.

Tracy Morgan

Comedian and SNL album Tracy Morgan launched into an anti-gay bit during a stand-up stop in Nashville. At first, he balked at apologizing and later did so in a statement.

Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks and her Twitter spat with Perez Hilton got the attention of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLADD) organization after she called the tabloid blogger a slur. The hot-headed rapper later said she was sorry.

Lil Scrappy

 

During an interview with TMZ, Lil Scrappy first showed love to Frank Ocean coming out but then made a plea to “real women” who want to deal with “real men” so they could “keep the AIDS situation down.

Mel Gibson

The veteran actor hasn’t done himself any favors with a slew of racist and violent outbursts over the years as the hits fell off. But back in 1991 in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, Gibson said some unprintable things about gays. He reportedly made peace with GLADD some years later.

The 30 Rock star got into hot water after some homophobic tweets towards Daily Mail writer, George Stark. To be fair, Stark hit first and made some bold and incorrect accusations but Baldwin’s response was a bit much.

Geraldo Rivera

The Fox News talking head actually defended Phil Robertson and Alec Baldwin, defiantly stating that “c–k su—-g f—-ot” is not a homophobic slur. Baldwin said the latter comment.
