Top 15 Q-Tip & Busta Rhymes Collaborations Of All-Time

Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip on a track is just a classic combination. Their latest collaboration, “Thank You,” from the former’s forthcoming E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2 album, is only the latest dope delivery from this dynamic Native Tongue duo. 

The Abstract Poetic and Bussa Bus became fast friends when they were running with A Tribe Called Quest and Leaders of the New School, respectively, in the early 90s. But when the Dungeon Dragon started having issues with LONS, Q-Tip looked out for his homie by placing him on songs (like the ATCQ b-side “One, Two Sh*t), to help keep Busta’s name bubbling in the rap streets.

Over the years, Tip and Bus have tap danced over fresh instrumentals on each of others solo work and occasionally lyrically crossed mics on the projects of other artists. With that in mind, here are the top 15 Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes collaborations, of all time. Yeah, we said it.

15. Q-Tip ft. Busta Rhymes – “N.T.”

This DJ Scratch produced head nod inducer is from Q-Tip’s Amplified album. Busta just holds down the hook, though.

14. A Tribe Called Quest ft. Busta Rhymes & Redman – “Steppin It Up”

Tribe’s lost proper album, The Love Movement, gets routinely pushed to the back, but this cut knocks.

12. Big Daddy Kane ft. Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip – “Come On Down”

Kane’s Prince Of Darkness album came and went but this cut here was sickness. Every MC gets absolutely busy, but there’s a good reason Busta, who was then a wet behind his dreadlocks new jack, is the closer.

11. Busta Rhymes ft. Q-Tip – “Poetic Justice (Freestyle)”

Busta cooked up a remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice,” so course Q-Tip, who was in the Poetic Justice film, dropped a verse.

Q-Tip and Busta over a Pharrell Williams beat, decent enough. This loose cut found a home on the NBA Live 2006 soundtrack.

Busta and Tip over a J. Dilla beat. It gets no smoother.

Two supa MCs spittin’ heat over an ill Enter The Dragon sample. Everyone wins with this quality cut from the Rhyme & Reason soundtrack.

3. Busta Rhymes ft. Q-Tip – “Ill Vibe”

This heats is from Busta’s solo debut The Coming. No hyperbole when we call this a classic.

The story goes that Q-Tip wrote Busta’s first appearance on the track (“I heard you rushed and rushed and attacked…”). However, that last verse was all his own, and a rap superstar was made.
