Careful where you shake and wiggle your booty to music. Aliso Niguel High School in southern California has banned twerking and any other sexually suggestive dancing at school sponsored parties.
Apparently, this is all Miley Cyrus’ fault.

Miley Cyrus did it on television, but administrators at Aliso Niguel High School want students to know there’s no “twerking” allowed on campus.
“Because it’s the newest thing out there, it’s the newest thing they have been talking about, we just wanted to make sure that’s understood,” said Ann Zendner, activities director for the Aliso Viejo school, which sent an email to parents and students last week specifically proclaiming “No twerking” among a list of dancing guidelines. The rule was in effect for Saturday’s homecoming dance.
The buttocks-shaking, hip-swinging dance move has been around awhile, though high school students might not remember the Ying Yang Twins’ 2000 single “Whistle While You Twurk.” In August, Cyrus cemented the move’s place in today’s lexicon when she gave her own interpretation of the dance, bent over in front of fellow pop star Robin Thicke.
Twerkers might bump into people or make people “feel violated,” Zendner said. “We want to make sure all of our students feel safe. Let’s face it; a lot of kids might not even know how to do it.”
Fair enough; no one wants to get “violated” by a rogue twerker, after all.

Here are the rules for the school’s events. The “twerking” prohibition was added last week.
Lewd and lascivious dancing such as “freaking” will result in a student being asked to leave the event and will make the student ineligible to attend all future dances for the remainder of the school year. Parents will be notified.
Dancing guidelines include but are not limited to:
• No straddling legs
• No bending over
• No front to back touching/grinding
• No touching of breasts, buttocks or genitals
• No “making out” (no overt or prolonged public displays of affection)
• Both feet on the floor
• Hands on waists or shoulders only
• No twerking
