Sure, the culture is about boom-bap and fresh rhymes, but we’re also known to be ill in the head sometimes.

After legendary rhyme-veteran Ice Cube released his Halloween-themed video, “Sasquatch,” we began to look back at the downright demented and scary videos the culture has released over its storied history.

While it’s hardly the first time a rapper has taken Michael Myers and used the character to frighten an audience, these hair-raising rap videos left an indelible mark on all those who watched these hauntingly horrifying visuals.

Don’t watch these with the lights off, as we list the 15 Scariest Rap Videos of All-Time.

We kick things off with the Hitchcockian stylings of Mr. Kanye-to-the:

Kanye West ft. Jay Z, Rick Ross & Nicki Minaj — Monster

It doesn’t take much to see why this banned/censored video will send chills down one’s spine.

King Gordy — Nightmares

The dark prince of Detroit lets an ominous force take the wheel in this horrorcore-filled track that will make listeners look over their own shoulder.

Scarface — I Seen a Man Die

One of the greatest songs from the ’90s was also a very fearful one. Brad Jordan paints a stark picture about any black man living in America, which serves as a reminder that life is important no matter the color or creed.

R.A. The Rugged Man ft. Tech N9ne & Krizz Kaliko

From the Legends Never Die album, one of the game’s innovative lyricist joined up with the Strange Music crazies Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko. The video, full of sacrilege imagery, finds the trio bringing the dark side of the altar straight into your living room.

Dana Dane — Nightmares

Sampling The Munsters theme song to creeptastic effect, this Hurby Luv Bug produced cut would ring out the hood on any Halloween during the 80’s.

Dr. Dre ft. Ice Cube — Natural Born Killaz

Psychotic nightmares come alive when these two former N.W.A. members get together to cause calamity. If you’re squeamish or prone to epilepsy, you may want to skip this clip.

Snoop Dogg — Murder Was Tha Case

Was it life that imitated art or vice versa. In any case, the Doggfather proved that there is a thin line between the two and that’s real life scary, right there.

Lil Wayne ft. Big Sean — My Homies Still

Besides all the macabre and decapitated bodies littered throughout this clip, this video made national news for foreshadowing the terrible shooting at the Aurora Theater in Colorado.

Eminem — 3 A.M.

Ever the vivid storyteller, Detroit’s own dirty demon takes listeners into the mind of a psycho serial killer, which found the Slim Shady MC rapping about “dead bodies behind the counter.”

Flatlinerz — Satanic Verses

Full of crazy, dark imagery, this Def Jam signed group, along with the Gravediggaz, were responsible for introducing the term “horror core” into the Hip-Hop lexicon.

Bone Thugs -N- Harmony — Tha Crossroads

A song that topped the charts and gave Cleveland another musical champion to salute. But this gripping clip was too hauntingly real for those who lived on E. 99th and in hoods around the world.

Tyler, The Creator — Yonkers

The Odd Future head honcho goes all the way to the left with this black-and-white video, which finds him in a no-win situation. One chomp of an insect and a twist of the ankle later leaves this creator with one lasting impression on the rap game.

Gravediggaz — Diary of a Madman

This Wu-Tang Clan off-shoot features RZA and his brethren rhyming about the dark side of the game and other ominous doings.

2Pac — I Ain’t Mad At Cha

Truly scary for the time this video impacted the airwaves. It made its premiere the morning after Tupac Amaru Shakur was pronounced deceased from bullet wounds in Las Vegas.

Jean Grae — Kill Screen

Littered with hidden references and comments, one of the best female MC’s gives you one of the craziest videos ever that mirrors a Hitchcock thriller.
