With the Labor Day holiday behind us we bid an unofficial goodbye to summer. Typically the season is a proving ground of sorts for MC’s to validate their position in Hip-Hop music, and 2013 was no different.

For many years Jay-Z asserted that he held us down for several summers and Rick Ross rightfully claimed, “The Summer’s Mine,” in 2010 while “BMF” reigned supreme. So if you can stay hot from June to August, then you have our interest.

In 2013, a bevy of singles, mixtapes and full-length albums came across our desks and tore up clubs, blared across radio airwaves and sent arenas into frenzies. While we didn’t rock with everything, there are some songs that were undeniable. Here are the top 15 Hip-Hop songs of the summer of 2013.

Feel free to let us know who you think we missed in the comments.

Wale extended his airplay run with his dedication to the ladies, “Bad.”

JayZ ft. Rick Ross – “F-ckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt”

While Magna Carta Holy Grail wasn’t the classic Hov told us it would be, this Rick Ross feature still bangs.

Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell Williams & T.I. – “Blurred Lines”

Arguably the true anthem of the 2013 summer, “Blurred Lines” officially jumped the shark with that horrid VMA performance, tho.

DJ Khaled simultaneously delivered another club anthem and a hashtag that won’t die out.

2 Chainz ft. Pharrell Williams – “Feds Watching”

Pharrell Williams made this Daft Punk track his own and created something so cool that we want more.

Migos ft. Drake – “Versace Remix”

Drizzy took a local hit and made it a national smash with a guest verse. We still don’t co-sign this foul ass shirt though.

Big Sean ft. Jay Electronica & Kendrick Lamar – “Control (HOF)”

With all the responses, interviews and hype it is only right this joint made this list.

We can’t front – The Mack knows how to craft a hit.

There is hope for struggle bars – French is proof.

J. Cole ft. Miguel – “Power Trip”

He didn’t let Nas or us down with this radio friendly offering.
