It’s Friday afternoon, so you know what that means. The word day is (almost) over and it’s time to lend an ear to the best tunes that released this week via The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
We can’t say that huge amounts of quality records released since our last listing, but we were able to assemble 10 worthy selections from a host of established artists, underground lyricists, and a few on the cusp of crossing over.
New York City, or the Tri-State area is well represented here. Wonder if “Control” had anything to do with this. Nevertheless, listeners can expect lyricism to be at the forefront, and you might even hear a late response to K. Dot’s bars to boot.
You’ll see what we’re talking about after the jump. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

YC The Cynic – “Negus”
The Bronx rapper has bars. There’s no denying that. And at 22-years-old, he has an extreme upside.
The Underachievers – “Leaving Scraps” (Prod. By Lex Luger)
The Brooklyn duo gave listeners a change of pace with this knocking tune.
Joe Budden – “Control Freestyle”
It took long enough, but Budden ultimately delivered perhaps the best response to Kendrick Lamar’s prolific verse yet.
World’s Fair – “Your Girl’s Here Pt. II”
If you can weave through the misogyny, you’ll hear how much talent the New York collective have.
Tanya Morgan – “Pick It Up” (Prod. By 6th Sense)
Von Pea and Don Will take us back to the block party with this mean jam. Oh, and they have lyrics to go too.
AZ – “I Excel”
Sosa still has mafioso bars by the pound. To say that we’re extremely excited for his upcoming Last Of a Dying Breed mixtape and the long-awaited Doe Or Die II would be an understatement.
Curren$y – “Audio Dope 4” (Prod. By Harry Fraud)
Fans can always count on playeristic bars Spitta anytime he talks on wax. This is no different.
Jhené Aiko – “Comfort Inn Ending (Cont’d)” (Prod. By No I.D.)
The West Coast songstress continued the tale she started in May. The vocals are sultry, the beat is melodic, and the overall product is amazing.
Rapsody ft. Phonte & Jay Electronica – “Jedi Code”
Jamla should be proud of their first lady, because she’s only gotten better as a MC. The fact the Phontigallo and Jay Elect showed face can be considered a bonus.
Big Sean ft. Nas & Kid Cudi – “First Chain”
With Hall of Fame set to drop next week, the Detroit native liberated one of its highly anticipated tracks. Yes, it lives up to the hype.
